Middle School State Championship Sees Records Fall

The middle school state championship in Clermont, Florida concluded this afternoon with eight meet records broken! More photos and meet coverage will be forthcoming. Complete results are posted.

Our new state meet record holders are:

Girls High Jump
Dorian Corbett of Florida High set a new mark of 5-3, breaking 2006 3A high school long jump state champion Deandra Doyley's record of 5-2 set in 2002.

Boys High Jump
Trevor Dunlap of Trevor Christ School jumped 5-10.00 breaking the former record of 5-6. Jeff Davis (Kennedy MS) also hit 5-10 (2nd place) at the meet.

Girls Triple Jump
Lauren Morton's (Destin) triple jump of 32-2 tied meet record of 2006 1A high school 100H state champion Valerie Flournoy from 2002.

Boys Discus
Demetre Baker of Orange Park Junior High threw a whopping 145-7, setting the new bar from the former record of 136-9 by Ronald Davis from 2004.

Girls 1500
Isabella Cuervo (Ransom Everglades) ran a 4:56.49 breaking the record of Lateefa Dooling of 5:05 from 2004. Grace VanDeGrift of Lakeland Track Club also topped the former meet record, with a time of 5:03.

Boys 200 Hurdles
Frazier Parker (Havana) ran a 25.96 breaking the record of Andrew Robinson from 2004.

Boys 3000
Brian Atkinson ran a superb time of 9:24.06, which bettered the former record of 9:46.30 set by Holy Trinity standout Kyle Cook in 2004.

Boys 4x800
More Otters 9:36.54 and 5 other teams also broke the old record of 10:01.
