Seeded Girls (Race Video)

Florida 4A Champion Bridget Blake will be making a return trip to San Diego this year! The Dr. Phillips senior will be the lone representative from the Sunshine State; the first time in over a decade that Florida has only had one representative. Blake improved upon her seventh place finish last year with a sixth place personal best of 17:12 on the lightning fast McAlpine Park course.

That was the end of the excitement today for Florida, as far as National qualifying hopes go. Several other runners had great races, but none came close to the top ten required to qualify. Emily Edwards (18th 17:58), Julie Wollrath (20th 17:59), and Blake's teammate Amber Johnson (29th 18:07) were the next best in the girls seeded race.

Seeded Boys (Race Video)

For the boys, it was Ft. Myers duo Ace Brown (19th 15:21) and Tyler Bennett (20th 15:22) topping the list. The other premier 1-2 punchin the state were next up with Niceville's Thomas Howell (30th 15:29) and Nicholas Morken (31st 15:30). Colonial's Andres Arroyo, who was favored to run near the front of the race and certainly crack the top ten, slipped to a disappointing 33rd place with a 15:32. Arroyo said in an interview afterwards that he just didn't have it today.
