THE 26th ANNUAL NEWPORT NEWS

CONN-MADDEN RELAYS

All events will be scored, both Friday and Saturday.

It is our intention to present Virginia with a high quality team developmental track meet that will serve as a springboard to the outdoor season. The ultimate goals are to promote experience, competition, total team participation and fun.

DATE: Friday & Saturday, March 31 & April 1, 2006

PLACE: Todd Stadium, Newport News, VA

THERE IS NO TIME SCHEDULE. THIS IS THE ORDER OF EVENTS

All running events are girls first followed by boys.

FRIDAY: 3:00 p.m. Shuttle hurdles, 6400 relay, 400 hurdles (individuals), 800 relay

SATURDAY: 8:30 a.m. 300 hurdles (2 per team), sprint medley (400-200-200-800) distance medley (1200, 400, 800, 1600), 400 relay, 3200 relay, 1600 relay

9:00 a.m. Field Events

ENTRIES DEADLINE: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 22, 2006

Make sure to enter times for running events and check appropriate field events.

The Conn-Madden Relays, although run over two days, is considered one meet.

The VHSL rule (84-3-1) concerning individual participation shall be in force.

Field Event Format: The pole vault is an individual event and the starting heights are based on the concept of quality vaulters. It is not supposed to be a developmental event. In all other field events you may enter up to three athletes per event and the team results are based on the best performances of two different athletes.

Reporting For Events: Only ONE call will be made for all events. Your team will have five minutes to report or will be scratched from that event.

Divisions: A Division - All AAA schools in the state of Virginia and all other schools with an enrollment of 1000 or more. B Division - All AA/A schools in the state of Virginia and all other schools with an enrollment of less than 1000. J.V. Division - 8th and 9th graders only. Athletes CANNOT compete in both the varsity and J.V. Division.

Scoring: Scoring will be on a basis of 6-5-4-3-2-1.

Awards: Medals for the first six places in all events. Team championship trophies for A & B Division boys, girls, and boys - girls combined, and for J.V. Division boys - girls combined.
