KING'S Invitational - Canceled 2021

Fort Myers, FL

Meet Information

Welcome to the 3rd annual KING'S Invitational!

Southwest Florida Christian Academy

3750 Colonial Blvd
Fort Myers, FL 33966
Due to excessive flooding (and future rain this week) on the course making many areas unsafe for runners, we have decided to cancel the meet.
We are disappointed, but know not much more reconfiguring could be done to avoid these areas on the course. Schools who paid an entry fee will be reimbursed.

Good evening,

First off, thank you again for choosing the King's Invitational as we know each week is so important for our athletes to get in good competition.

As fate would have it, our campus has seen a significant amount of rain in past two weeks which has flooded our course tremendously to the point where we are heavily leaning towards canceling the meet due to major safety concerns. Unfortunately, with the heavy rain in the forecast for the next few days, we are having to evaluate what we see now and what the future may hold in terms of flooding. Our goal is to provide you all with a high quality cross country course that is competitive, challenging, and ultimately, safe.

Tomorrow, we will be doing a final evaluation of the course and sending our final decision out to you all by 3:30 pm.

Please know that we are trying every measure (reconfiguring the course a few times etc.) to keep this meet from being cancelled, but at the end of the day, as we all know we cannot control the weather which is causing the most trouble.

We understand that in light of this news you may decide that you want to pursue registering for another meet. If you do decide to attend a different meet, please let us know, and we will make arrangements for you to be reimbursed if you have paid the entry fee already.

I will be in touch with you all in the next 24 hours. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

A little bit about the course:
This race set up is one where runners will be able to challenge themselves with a two loop course (second loop is shorter) with straight aways that is 99% flat grass. Also, the start of the race will be in a newly built up practice field area to hopefully avoid flooding due to rain. Spectators and coaches are able to catch a ride on a golf cart if needed, and the mile and two mile marks are relatively close to one another. The course will be very well marked like in the past. Elite timing will be our timer, and awards will be held after the boys' JV race.
Deadline to register is September 22nd at 11 pm.
We look forward to hosting you!

Buses must stay around the loop, drop off runners, and then follow the parking attendant's instruction. Buses are not to park on the side of the road around the loop.
