2A Team Rankings: Bolles Vs. Pine Crest Setting Up To Be Slugfest Todd Grasley Aug 21, 2014

Seven points is what our rankings says will be the difference between Bolles and Pine Crest come November. The 2A defending champion Lady  Bulldogs have six girls in the top twenty, while Pine Crest has five. However, they boast the two time state champion in Julia Montgomery. Every point matters in this one! The boys race looked like a lock for Trinity Prep who made the jump to 2A last year and claimed their first title in that classification. However, we recently found out Tristan Rhodes has transferred making the chase for the crown a lot closer with McKeel Academy!  Check out the top five girls and boys teams in 2A and a link to their complete rankings.

In His Own Words: Ashton Butler - JAC Track Club Is On Fire Ashton Butler Mar 5, 2014

Bolles senior Ashton Butler will not be competing for the Bulldogs this season, but that doesn't mean he is hanging up his track shoes. The FSU signee will be competing in open meets as an unattached athlete. He kicked off his season with a personal best of 23"5' in the long jump as well as a personal best from short approach in the triple jump 46"10'. Glasser Vaults All-Time Florida #3, 16'4.75" Or 5m Todd Grasley Feb 14, 2014

2014 has been a good year so far for Bolles senior Harry Glasser. In his first meet of the year at the Durham Striders Invitational, he cleared 16'0 and putting his name in the indoor national rankings. He followed that up with a 15'6" mark at the Jimmy Carnes Indoor Meet for win number two. That was the only tune ups he needed to get ready for the 2014 outdoor season. At the Eagle Open Invitational, he cleared a new personal best 16'4.75" or 5 meters. He says that was the goal to open up the season.

Bolles Jumper Ashton Butler Eyeing 2014 & Beyond Todd Grasley Feb 10, 2014

Bolles head coach Dan Dearing was there for all the action and recaps what went down.

2A Girls Team Scores: Bolles Counting On Big Points From Distance Squad, Don't Sleep On Godby Todd Grasley Jan 29, 2014

The Bolles Lady Bulldogs won the 2A Cross Country finals and are hoping their strong distance squad can power them to a state track and field championship. Luckily for the program, it will be a down year for American Heritage who has hoisted the trophy the last four years. Don't count out Godby who could close the gap and spoil the party with Caitlin Wilson who is a quadruple threat in the sprints and in the jumps!

Track and Field Top 50: Pole Vault Todd Grasley Jan 16, 2014

Lake Mary senior Erica Sergeant is looking for her third straight 4A state championship. She comes into the 2014 season as the top returner having gone 12'5 twice, 12'6, and a personal best 12'6.25 at AAU Club Nationals. On the boys side, only four have gone over 15'0. Evangelical Christian junior Drew McMichael went 15'6 at AAU Club Nationals and has the top returning outdoor time. However, watch out for Bolles senior Harry Glasser. He went 15'0 last year and recently cleared 16'0 at an indoor meet in North Carolina.

Glasser Soars Over 16'0 Mark At North Carolina Indoor Meet Todd Grasley Jan 13, 2014

For Harry Glasser, pole vaulting runs in the family. His sister Daisy was a three-time state champion while at Episcopal and later went onto vault for the Univeristy of Florida. Her mark of 12'9 set at the Bolles Mini Meet in 2007 ties her for fourth all time in Florida. Harry first picked up a pole when he was in elementary school, but never really took the event seriously. He says he only did track as something to preoccupy himself when his first love, wrestling, wasn't in season. It was a trend that continued into his 9th and 10th grade years after he transferred from Episcopal to Bolles.

2A Individual Rankings: Ten Seconds Separates Top Four Girls, Delacruz Best Time For 2013 Todd Grasley Oct 22, 2013

Bolles sophomore Mackenzie Wilson was second at the state meet in 2013. She has the fastest time coming in with three other girls less than ten seconds back including defending champion Julia Montgomery and her sixth grade teammate Tsion Yared. Daesha Rogers is 8th on the list, but you can never count her out of a race. On the boys side Leonel Delacruz had a breakout race at Pre-State going 15:30.96 more than thirty seconds faster than anyone else in 2A. If he can keep the momentum going he has a great chance to improve on his fifth place showing from last year and win a state championship.

Runners Discover 110% Cross Country at UNF Ralph Epifanio Sep 3, 2013

It is comforting to know that stretches of wooded trails still exist in a state that is generally regarded as a “Shopper’s Heaven,” where air conditioned malls seem to have replaced most of what we originally came here to find. Of course, “find” is the term that best described my initial visit to the UNF campus.

Scouting Report: Bolles Girls Todd Grasley Aug 23, 2013

After finishing second at state in 2011, the Bolles girls cross country team accomplished the mission in 2012, and brought home the 2A state championship. Currently, ranked in our composite rankings as the second best team regardless of class, the Bulldogs, look to be in great shape for a second consecutive title.

Throwback Thursday: The Definition of Sportsmanship Todd Grasley Aug 1, 2013

In a world of competitive sports and the willingness to win it is eye opening to also see examples of sportsmanship. One of the best examples of this I've ever witnessed was two years ago at the state cross country meet when the Bolles runners realized a scoring error and did the right thing by handing over their medals to the American Heritage girls. They say it's not how whether you win or lose, but how you play the game. True class. We take you back to that day in this edition of Throwback Thursday.

Coaching Champions: Tony Ryan (Bolles) Todd Grasley Dec 5, 2012

Flrunners is reaching out to interview and recognize all of the head coaches from the victorious cross country state championship teams to give them the opportunity to reflect and share their feelings and thoughts on their team's successful fall seasons culminating with state team titles. 2A Girls State Meet Preview Jason Byrne Nov 16, 2012

Daesha Rogers and Julia Montgomery will do battle for the third week in a row. Bolles looks to run away with the title, while Pine Crest and Bishop Kenny lock horns for second.

Scouting Report: Bolles Girls Todd Grasley Aug 28, 2012

Bolles girls cross country team finished last year with runner-up medals. At least for a little while that is. After a chip mishap with an American Heritage runner caused them to go from second to fifth, Bolles jumped up from third to second. The Bulldogs ended up giving their medals to the rightful team in which can only be described as a very emotional exchange. This year the team loses only two girls from their top fourteen, Rachel Rice who is now at East Carolina University and Micayla Costa. Leading the way for Bolles 2012 team is junior Lily Arnold and transfer Mackenzie Wilson.
