11/15 High School XC Weekend Recap

Florida State Championships (FL)

November 15, 2014 Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, FL

Sukhi Khosla repeats as Florida 3A state champ - 7 seconds faster than last year in 15:01!

Poor Sukhi Khosla. Always running alone. As has been the case for much of his past two years in cross country and track when racing within his home state of Florida, the Saucony Flo50 #21 ranked runner Khosla was out in front again chasing the clock and trying to beat his winning time of 15:08 from a year ago in the 3A state race. Khosla achieved that with his time of 15:01 in a unseasonably chilly November day in Florida.

With a top three running times from 15:31 to 15:43, the Chiles boys proved themselves as the supreme team in the state of Florida in winning the 3A state title. Their fourth and fifth runners were just over 16 minutes for a complete team effort. The class 3A race turned out to be the best team races of the meet as the Khosla-led Leon boys came out second in the results merge of the 4A class races.

Super frosh Rafaella Gibbons leads the Winter Park girls to team title with top time of the day in 18:05

Rafaella Gibbons kept up her amazing freshmen year in winning the Florida 4A state individual cross country title with the fastest time of the day in Tallahassee with her 18:05 victory. Gibbons was one of four Winter Park girls to run under 19 minutes in the race as they had the best team performance coming out 70 points ahead in the 4 classification results merge.

Sinclaire Johnson had the second fastest girls time of the meet in 18:14, while the third fastest performance belonged to a tiny 7th grader in Tsion Yared of Pine Crest who claimed her first of likely many future state titles in taking first in the class 2A race with a time of 18:18.
