Anaheim Canyon Hills (Ca.) High senior Rachel Baxter probably left the Mt. SAC Relays with a bittersweet taste in her mouth.
While Baxter heighted 14-feet, breaking the meet record and putting her firmly in control of the national standings, it still was three inches shy of her personal best of 2016. The Virginia Tech signee still has plenty of opportunities to hit that mark or higher to finish the season.
Meanwhile, Lee Summit (Mo.) High junior KC Lightfoot nailed a PR of 17-1.25 at the Darwin Rold Invitational on Wednesday, going over 17 for the first time in his career outdoors.
Lightfoot, who moved up to US No. 3 with the effort, went 17-4.25 over the indoor season at the Big River High School Indoor Championships in Missouri.
