TAMPA
- Two weeks after a trio of school records hit the dust, three more records fell Friday at the Bulls Invitational as the University of South Florida track and field teams competed for the second meet in a row at home at the USF Track & Field Stadium.

Sophomores Jared Thomas and Nicole Rozario took down the top marks in the men's discus and women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, respectively, while the men's 4x100 relay just edged out the top time previously held by the 2007 relay after just missing that 2007 time March 5 in the USF Open.

Thomas bested his own school record he originally set as a freshman last year then equaled in the USF Open, the Bulls' first outdoor meet of the season, throwing 185-4 to surpass his distance of 182-3 set two weeks ago.

Rozario posted a time of 10:28.89 to break the former record held by Rita Arndt (10:38.41), set back in 2001.

A pair of seniors in Greg Fontus and Armante Marshall and two more freshmen in Derrick Hopkins and Kayvon Webster together ran the 4x100 in 40.79, slightly ahead of the 2007 relay that posted a time of 40.83, as they placed first at the meet.

Fontus also ran well in the 100 meters, running a time of 10.50, just ahead of freshman Lindsey Lamar, who posted a time of 10.53, as they moved into second and third, respectively, all-time at USF behind school record holder Llewelyn Bredwood (10.20).

Also posting BIG EAST times were Webster at 10.66 and Hopkins at 10.91, while Fontus, senior Josh Wimbley and freshman Pascal Orelus each ran under the BIG EAST time in the 200. Wimbley came in sixth in 21.63, while Fontus ran 21.70 and Orelus posted a time of 21.80, putting him at seventh all-time at USF.

Orelus, though, saved his best for the 400, where he came in second at the meet to the 2008 100-meter Olympic bronze medalist, Walter Dix, as Orelus ran 47.63, which immediately put him into second all-time at USF. Dix easily won the meet with a time of 46.88.

Senior Samantha Shade had a solid meet in both the long and triple jumps, leaping 19-1.5 to move into fourth all-time at USF in the long jump as she placed first overall at the meet. Right behind her in second was junior Rachel Etienne, who landed at 19-0 for a PR but technically dropped from fourth to fifth on the all-time list after Shade moved up.

Shade also became the fourth athlete ever to clear 40 feet in the triple jump, leaping 40-1.5 to place second at the meet and move into third all-time at USF. Freshman Monique Williams came in fifth at the meet with a distance of 38-2.

Junior Antillio Bastian joined Etienne and Williams in posting BIG EAST qualifying marks as he came in first at the meet by going 49-9.25 in the triple jump, more than two feet farther than his closest competitor.

A solid all-around athlete, Williams also posted a conference qualifying time of 12.04 in the 100 meters. The same went for senior Yvana Hepburn and freshman Ena Johnson in the 100-meter hurdles, as they punched their tickets to the BIG EAST meet after running 14.04 and 14.73, respectively.

Sophomore David Aristil placed first in the 400 hurdles by running a 51.63, several seconds ahead of the BIG EAST time, while he, Griffin, Orelus and senior Ryan Courtoy won the 4x400 as well with a time of 3:15.84.

Sophomore Lauren Noe took home the hammer title Friday, outdistancing the competition with a throw of 179-3, while sophomore Atasha Warren posted a BIG EAST mark in the shot put at 44-1.5.

Freshman Mike Vani and Wyatt Metzger moved into sixth on the all-time top-10 list after the pair of pole vaulters both went over the 15-7 height, with Metzger taking third overall and Vani earning fifth.

Senior Tyler Perkins threw past his previous PR in the discus and placed third behind Thomas after launching the discus 176-08. In the javelin, junior Kevin Kelly threw 189-5 to place fifth, while sophomore Casey Wagner and Sarah Canter went 3-4 on the women's side at 141-8 and 139-0, respectively.

Sophomores Shaniel Chambers and Yasmin Smith finished 3-4 in the 800 meters, with Chambers crossing the line in 2:12.11 and Smith right behind her in 2:13.52, which landed her in the all-time top 10 and gave her another BIG EAST mark along with the 1,500 meters.

Two more distance runners came in second in their respective races, as sophomore Phillip Wise ran 3:56.74 in the 1,500 meters, while sophomore Allie Prendergast went 17:16.67 in the 5,000.

Junior Dana Webb earned a third-place finish by going over 12-5.5 in the pole vault, while fellow junior Stephanie Duffy was fifth with a height of 11-11.75.

Freshman Courtney Anderson placed sixth in the high jump after clearing 5-5, while for the men senior Michael Kursteiner jumped 6-9.75 to come in second.

USF will turn right around and hit the road next weekend as the Bulls head to the FSU Relays Thursday through Saturday at Florida State.
