Full Results | Friday's Recap

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Bulls added three more names to the list of athletes running the 200 meters at the BIG EAST Championships along with a win in the men's high jump during the second day of competition at the Spike's Classic at the Embry-Riddle Track Saturday.

Senior Michael Kursteiner won the high jump competition and went slightly above his all-time best when he cleared 6-11, surpassing the 6-10.75 barrier he has reached numerous times.

Freshman Derrick Hopkins, Kayvon Webster and Lindsey Lamar each qualified for the BIG EAST Championships in the 200 meters, with Hopkins posting a time of 21.97, ranking him ninth all-time at USF, while Webster and Lamar went 22.03 and 22.05, respectively. USF now has six individuals who have qualified to run at the BIG EAST Championships in the 200.

Freshman Dariel Jackson ran just ahead of the BIG EAST qualifying time in the 200 meters for the first time this year, finishing third overall with a time of 25.01. She also nearly reached her all-time best in the 100 meters, running in a time of 12.02 to finish third at the meet, just off the 12.00 she posted in high school.

The fourth football player on the team along with the 200 trio, freshman Sterling Griffin, came in fifth in the 400 meters after running a time of 49.72.

Running together in the 4x100 relay for the first time this season, the quartet of Lamar, Hopkins, Griffin and Webster posted a time of 41.28, good enough to place them first at the meet but off the school record set two weeks ago of 40.79.

Freshman Neamen Wise, who specializes in the hurdles, ran the 400 hurdles for the first time this season and went 56.82 as he came up just short of the BIG EAST qualifying time. On the women's side, freshman Robyn Oakley continued to improve in the 400 hurdles, running a season-best of 1:07.68 as she ended the race in fourth place overall.

The Bulls will now head out of state for the first time during the outdoor season for the Sea Ray Relays Friday and Saturday at the University of Tennessee.
