KNOXVILLE, Tenn.
- A pair of USF hurdlers continued to excel during the 2010 outdoor campaign as sophomore David Aristil and senior Yvana Hepburn each had their best time ever during the 44th annual Sea Ray Relays at Tennessee's Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium.

Aristil's solid day in both the 110 and 400 hurdles concluded later in the afternoon when he won the 400 hurdles title at the Relays in a time of 51.13, outdistancing 24 other competitors. His time was exactly half a second better than his previous personal best of 51.63 achieved earlier this season at the Bulls Invitational and helped him get closer to USF's No. 2 all-time 400-hurdle runner, Glenn Fowler, who sits in second in 51.05.

Hepburn finished fifth overall among 36 competitors at the meet but second among attached athletes after she ran 13.63 in the 100 hurdles, finishing a mere 0.01 seconds ahead of her all-time best set in 2009.

Aristil, meanwhile, also finished second among collegiate athletes but third overall in the 110 hurdles that followed the women's hurdles, posting a time of 14.27 in a field of more than 20.

In the pole vault, a pair of juniors in Stephanie Duffy and Dana Webb finished third and fifth, respectively, after Duffy tied her PR from the Spike's Classic a week ago at 13-1.5, with Webb going over the bar at a height of 12-5.5.

Freshman Pascal Orelus posted another top-5 finish for the Bulls, taking fifth in the 400 meters in a field that numbered 45 when he completed the race around the track in 47.80, which put him just 0.17 seconds off his personal best.

Sophomore Jared Thomas, owner of the fourth-longest throw in the discus in Division I this year, threw 184-5 Friday and landed in third place at the meet, and a throw of 175-0 for senior Tyler Perkins put him in fifth and was just short of his all-time PR.

Freshmen pole vaulters Mike Vani and Wyatt Metzger each cleared 15-7 on the day, with Vani tying his collegiate best as he came in seventh, while Metzger finished in a tie for fifth.

USF's last top-5 finish on the day came on a throw of 142-9 for sophomore Atasha Warren, which landed her in fourth overall in the discus.

A time of 3:58.34 for sophomore Phillip Wise in the 1,500 meters put him in sixth place overall at the meet among more than 20 competitors. Another long distance runner for USF, sophomore Shaniel Chambers, had a solid meet in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:13.46.

Freshman Dariel Jackson competed in the 200 meters Friday, besting her previous best set last year in high school by 0.30 seconds when she ran 24.39, which also surpassed her collegiate best by more than 0.60 seconds. In addition, Jackson ran the 100 meters earlier in the day, finishing her heat in 12.10, just off the pace of her personal best of 12.00.

Two of USF's triple jumpers qualified for the final of the event, with senior Samantha Shade coming in seventh after leaping 39-1.75, and freshman Monique Williams finishing two spots lower after leaping 38-8.25. Junior MaShonda Rayner almost equaled her PR after going 37-3.25.

Senior Greg Fontus improved his standing in the BIG EAST conference in the 200 meters when he posted his best time of the outdoor season in 21.54.

Both Kayla Richmond and Ena Johnson ran well in the 400 hurdles, with the senior Richmond going 1:04.12, with the freshman Johnson finishing in 1:05.30, slightly off their season bests for the 2010 campaign.

On Thursday, Warren and sophomore Lauren Noe competed in the hammer, with Warren throwing 156-2 and Noe finishing right behind her with a throw of 156.

USF will be back on the track tomorrow for the second full day of competition for the Bulls at the Sea Ray Relays, beginning at 12:30 p.m. with the men's high jump.
