PHILADELPHIA
- Sophomore Casey Wagner upped her school record in the javelin and placed fourth overall in the championship division of the women's javelin Thursday at the 116th running of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.

A toss of 155-7 on the last of her six throws moved Wagner farther ahead of anyone else at USF, surpassing her old mark of 154-6 set at the USF Open March 5. The Quakake, Pa., native originally set the record as a freshman last season when she threw 150-11 in her first collegiate meet.

Wagner placed just ahead of Clarion's Kim Hanslovan who threw 155-0 at the Relays and behind Penn State's Karlee McQuillen, who won the meet at 162-7, Virginia's Meghan Briggs and Nicole Tozzi of East Carolina.

Also Thursday, junior Stephanie Duffy took seventh after jumping 12-11.5 in the pole vault in the college women's championship. Four of Duffy's competitors who finished ahead of her in the competition also leapt 12-11.5.

In addition, junior Dana Webb finished in a tie for eighth in the college division of the pole vault after clearing 12-6. Sophomore Lauren Noe was the other of USF's four athletes to compete Thursday when she threw 148-8 in the hammer.

The Bulls will send four more athletes out to the field Friday for the second full day of action in the Penn Relays.
