All-District Women's Track and Field/Cross Country Teams
TAMPA - Junior
Stephanie Duffy of the University of South Florida track and field team was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Second Team Thursday, as announced by the Academic All-America® Committee.
Duffy was one of 10 individuals to earn a spot on the District 3 second team for women's track and field. A total of 10 individuals from Division I institutions are named to both the first and second teams for each of the eight districts across the country.
An elementary education major, Duffy sported an overall GPA of 3.94 prior to the Spring 2010 semester, boosted by a perfect 4.0 GPA during the Fall 2009 semester.
On the track, Duffy earned a pair of All-BIG EAST honors in 2010 in the pole vault, including the indoor campaign when she captured the BIG EAST title with a jump of 13-3.5. She took third at the outdoor BIG EAST meet in both 2009 and '10.
Duffy recently completed her junior season after competing at the NCAA East Prelim (formally East Regional) for the third time in three seasons at USF. Duffy fell just short of qualifying for the NCAA Championships next week in Oregon, placing 16th overall among 48 competitors at the East Prelim last Friday. The top 12 advanced to nationals.
A former USA Junior National Qualifier, Duffy ranks third all-time on the outdoor top-10 list at USF in the pole vault and second indoors.
In addition to her Academic All-America honor, Duffy earned a spot on the BIG EAST All-Academic Team and the USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Track and Field Team following her freshman and sophomore seasons.
Nominations and voting for the All-America programs are conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
