EUGENE, Ore. - Sophomore Nicole Rozario wrapped up her collegiate season as she placed 22nd overall in the 3,000 steeplechase at the NCAA Track and Field Championships Thursday night.

Rozario completed the race in 10:48.05 to finish 11th in the second of two heats at Oregon's Hayward Field. A total of 24 athletes qualified for the national championships in the event.

The Middletown, N.Y., native qualified for nationals after taking eighth overall at the NCAA East Prelim May 29. She became USF's first female national qualifier in the steeplechase and the third overall for the USF program.

A USA Junior National Championship qualifier as a freshman, Rozario owns the school record in 10:23.01, run at the Sea Ray Relays April 10. That time was 30 seconds better than her best time as a freshman.

Two more USF athletes will compete before the end of the meet, including sophomore David Aristil, who will run in the final of the 400 hurdles at 8:05 p.m. EST Friday. Aristil, already an All-American, qualified for the final after taking the final at-large spot in the semifinal round with his school record time of 50.13.

Sophomore Casey Wagner, ranked 19th overall among the field of 24 following the NCAA Prelims, will throw the javelin Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
