Six Bulls Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

TAMPA - Six members of the University of South Florida women's track and field team were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2010 Division I Track & Field All-Academic on Wednesday, the organization announced.

Senior Yvana Hepburn, juniors Dana Webb and Stephanie Duffy and sophomores Nicole Rozario, Casey Wagner and Lauren Noe earned a spot on the squad, which honored a total of 551 student-athletes in D-I women's track and field.

Webb and Duffy were honored by the USTFCCCA for the third time in their careers, while Hepburn and Wagner were named to the team for the second year in a row. This marks the first appearance on the organization's all-academic team for Rozario and Noe.

Hepburn was also one of 28 individuals among the 551 honored to have a 4.0 grade-point average. She recently finished her collegiate career after placing 20th in the 100 hurdles at the NCAA East Prelim May 27-29 in Greensboro, N.C. Hepburn ranks second all-time in the event behind 2008 Olympian Damu Cherry, while she also owns the school record in the indoor 60 hurdles.

Pole vaulters Duffy and Webb are coming off a sweep of the BIG EAST titles in 2010, as Duffy won the conference crown at the indoor meet, while Webb won the title at the outdoor championships. Both are three-time NCAA East Prelim (formally East Regional) qualifiers.

Webb ranks second all-time at USF in the outdoor pole vault, while Duffy sits third. Duffy owns the second-best indoor mark at USF, with Webb right behind her in third. Both trail former All-American Denise vonEynatten for the all-time record both indoors and outdoors.

Rozario and Wagner were two of the four Bulls, along with David Aristil and Jared Thomas, to compete at the NCAA Championships June 9-12 in Eugene, Ore. Rozario qualified in the 3,000 steeplechase, while Wagner became the first USF athlete ever to compete at the championships in the javelin.

Both school record holders, Rozario finished eighth at the NCAA East Prelim after taking fifth at the BIG EAST Championships. She was also the top finisher for USF in all six meets she competed in during the 2009 cross country season.

Wagner finished seventh at the East Prelim after taking fourth at the BIG EAST meet. The USA Junior National Champion in 2009 - USF's first ever - Wagner later placed fifth at last year's Junior Pan Am Games following her second-place showing earlier in the year at the 2009 BIG EAST meet in her freshman campaign.

Noe threw the hammer at the NCAA East Prelim after finishing seventh at the BIG EAST outdoor meet. She also took eighth in the discus at the BIG EAST Championships, and ranks third all-time at USF in the hammer and eighth in the discus.

Of the 16 BIG EAST teams, 10 had student-athletes named to the USATFCCCA All-Academic Team. Only Syracuse (10), West Virginia (10) and Georgetown (9) had more honorees than USF. Villanova tied USF with six.

In addition, the Bulls also tied Florida State for the most among Florida D-I schools with its six honorees.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including preliminary rounds) in their respective event.
