Last Year's Race
The University of South Florida cross country teams placed 12th on the women's side and 13th in the men's race at the 2009 BIG EAST Championships. The women scored 359 points, while the men posted 381 points. Villanova won the women's race with 30 points, while Syracuse won the men's competition with a point total of 55. Nicole Rozario earned the top spot for the Bulls, as she ran the 6k race in a time of 22:42.8, putting her in 43rd overall. Allie Prendergast followed Rozario in 23:39.1 to place 64th. Ryan Courtoy placed 52nd with a time of 27:11.7 and was the top runner for the men's team. He was followed by sophomores Phillip Wise and Lucas Simari, who posted times of 28:04.7 and 28:51.1, respectively.

Last Time Out
With the main squad taking the weekend off, the women's 'B' team traveled to the Florida Southern Invite, where they finished fifth out of 10 teams. Working her way back from injury, junior Allie Prendergast placed third in the 6K run with a time of 21:48.0. Senior Rachel Etienne was the next finisher for the Bulls in 24th place after clocking a 24:17.0. Freshman Shenequa Fisher was next in 35th place (25:46), while Alicia McLean (39th, 26:28) and Mariah Andersen-Otten (43rd, 26:55) rounded out the scoring.

BIG EAST Experience
Seven members of USF's women's team competed at the 2009 BIG EAST Championships, while five of the men's team participated. Junior Nicole Rozario was USF's top finisher last season, taking 43rd place with a time of 22:42.8. In addition to Rozario, Allie Prendergast, Yasmin Smith and Devin Spoerle all scored for the Bulls at last year's league meet. Rozario, Smith and Spoerle all finished in the top five at the 2008 meet as well. On the men's side, Phillip Wise was USF's second finisher in 77th place, while Lucas Simari finished third best for the Bulls. Wise was the top USF finisher in 2008 and was joined by Pedro Carela, Jonathan Bing and Simari in the Bulls' top five.
