FSU Men Ranked #1 in Preseason Indoor Poll Jason Byrne Dec 21, 2007

I suppose it is only appropriate that the back-to-back national outdoor champions are slated in the #1 position headed into the collegiate indoor track & field season.  Despite two outdoor national crowns, the Seminoles have yet to win a national indoor title.  Last season, they finished second to Wisconsin. The indoor preason rankings are not, however, a subjective rankings; to determine the positions they analyze the best returning times from last indoor season.  With superstar Walter Dix and a great group of othes returning for the Noles this year indoor and back-to-back-to-back outdoor titles are certainly within reach.Giving the Seminoles company in the top five is the University of Florida.  The Gators, no doubt proud of Heisman winner Tim Tebow, should also be proud of their indoor track program--ranked #4. The Gators also have the only women's team preason ranked in the national top 25 indoors.  The Lady Gators find themselves in 13th position.Congrats to both teams!  GO 'NOLES! (and although I can't bring myself to say it without putting it parenthesis since I bleed garnet and gold--GO GATORS!)

FSU Gets Two Top Recruits Jason Byrne Oct 26, 2007

The defending national track & field champion Florida State University men aren't taking anything for granted.  And they also aren't wasting any time building for their 2009 squad.  Earlier this week two top commitments were announced.  Although they cannot yet officially sign with the 'Noles, Maurice Mitchell of Missouri and Mike Fout of Indiana have given their verbal commitments to Coach Bob Braman.Mitchell, a senior at Raytown South High School, is the top sprinter in the state of Missouri.  He was the Missouri Gatorade Track & Field Athlete of the Year and won state championships in three-count 'em three--events last spring.  His marks at the state meet:  10.42, 20.96 and 47.60.  That's a pretty nice one day triple!Fout, the senior distance runner from LaPorte, Indiana, will also be joining the defending national champs.  He is currently ranked 12th in the nation in MileSplit's Boys Cross Country Power Rankings.  He was the state champion in the 3200 last spring in Indiana and a favorite to qualify for Footlocker Nationals this year.Congrats to Bob Braman and the Seminoles!

FSU Nabs 200/400 National Champion Jason Byrne Apr 5, 2007

The defending national champions of Florida State University are riding high right now.  Not only are they currently ranked #1 in the nation, but their 2007 recruiting class just got quite a bit brighter! The 'Noles signed Sean Holston from Virginia's Robert E. Lee High School.  Holston already has two national championships under this belt this year, winning the 200 and 400 last month at Nike Indoor Nationals.More info on MileStat...

Holston to join Charles Clark at FSU, headed to Mobile this weekend Brandon Miles Apr 5, 2007

Robert E. Lee senior Sean Holston, one of the top high school sprinters in the country this year, has committed to run for the defending NCAA Division I outdoor champions of Florida State University next year. Holston will join 2006 Bayside High School (Virginai Beach, VA) graduate Charles Clark, who won two national championships last year for 200 meters at Nike Indoor and Nike Outdoor Nationals. Holston has already won two national championships in his senior year with wins at Nike Indoor Nationals last month in the 200 and 400 meter dash. Coach Braman at FSU now finds himself with two of the best sprinters ever produced from the state of Virginia. Holston will be opening his outdoor season this weekend less than four hours from his future college destination at the Mobile Meet of Champions in Mobile, Alabama. Holston will be competing in two events in the 200 and 400 meter dash and should face fairly strong competition. (Photo by John Herzog)

Bob Braman: Putting Florida State Back On the Map Tyrone Gayle Jan 3, 2006

Coach Bob Braman has been coaching at Florida State for the past six years, but it was only in the spring of 2003 that he was appointed head track and field coach. During his short but successful tenure; records have fallen, championships have been won, and All-Americans have been coming out of the woodwork. So how did he resurrect a program that had been buried under the rug and nearly forgotten about?
