The Wildcat track and field team experienced a great deal of highs and lows in Friday's competition at the MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. B-CU placed six competitors into the finals in their respective events, and picked up top-10 finishes in four others, but the Wildcats did not produce a high-scoring day on day 2, along with the loss of a top sprinter on the men's side. The highs were very high, and the lows could prove troublesome for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman Track & Field are looking to top off the indoor season with some top finishes, this weekend at the MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. The meet gets off to a later start than originally planned, due to heavy snows along the Atlantic seaboard, hampering air and road travel. The change in schedule is not anticipated to affect B-CU's events, as the meet began with multi-events. B-CU's season featured many bright spots of success along the way, and the team is looking to put it all together against the conference schools.

This is the first meet for the new coaching staff, comprised of Head Coach Donald Cooper, and assistants Matthew Barreau and Tempest Vance. With a new-look roster, composed of 14 men and 14 women, who travel to South Carolina to face off with 11 other schools in the season's first indoor meet. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Bethune-Cookman Cross Country teams returned to the course this past weekend, as they traveled to FAMU for the Bobby Lang Invitational on the FAMU campus.Alex Condell took the lead for B-CU, finishing third in a time of 21:25 in the women's 5k. Also for the women's team, Crystal Barge finished 15th (25:13), Jacquennee Flowers came in 17th (28:24), Lashondra Wilbon at 18th (28:48), Vanderlynn Watts at 19th (31:17), Samantha Sharper at 20th, and rounding out the team at 21st, Ryan Sanders finished in 32:33. The Women's team finished third in the meet with 58 combined points.In the men's 8k, William Cosby again topped the Wildcats, finishing 15th in a time of 36:52, followed by Marcell Keeling (17th, 38:56), Robert Horton (18th, 40:02), Chris Jackson (19th, 40:02), Joel Redhead (20th, 40:11), Chris Herring (21st, 41:35), and Eric Cray (22nd, 43:35). Redhead, Davis Look to Make Their Mark at the World Championships Aug 7, 2009

After wrapping up his Bethune-Cookman Track & Field career with a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and a spot on the All-American team, Joel Redhead takes his talent to a global level. Redhead is set to compete in the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Foundations) World Championships in Athletics, set to begin August 15 in Berlin, Germany. He is qualified to represent Grenada in the 200m and 400m Dash, following his performances June 20 in the Grenada National Senior Championships. Redhead won't be alone, as he is joined by B-CU Assistant Coach and 2008 Olympian Kia Davis. Both are looking to add another mark to their career credentials.
