About Our Team

Belen Jesuit was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba as "Colegio de Belen". The school is under the direction of the Jesuit Order (Society of Jesus). It is named after the birthplace of Jesus. In 1960 the school was expelled from Cuba and moved to Miami, FL. Thanks to the generosity of the New Orleans Jesuit Province the school was able to open up on the second floor of Gesu church in Downtown Miami in 1961. In 1981 Belen moved its current location on 8th Street and SW 127th Avenue.

The Belen Jesuit Track program was established in 1920 in Marianao, Cuba. They were FIAC Conference Champions in 1925, 1928, 1936, 1937, 1938, 1941, 1942, 1943, 1946, 1948, 1949, 1954 and 1955. Their head coach was Cappy Campuzano. In the United States the team has won 23 District Championships, 3 Regional Championships and won the 2007 FHSAA State Championship behind head coach Arthur Foster. The team has been coached by Victor Arrieta since 2009.

The Belen Jesuit Cross Country was established in 1970 by Carlos Barquin who coached the team for 31 years. The team has won 29 District Championships, 14 Regional Championships, 8 FHSAA State Runner-Ups (1978, 1982,1984, 1986, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2009) and 6 FHSAA State Championships (1995, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011). The team has been coached by Frankie Ruiz since 2002.
