Coral Springs Christian Academy is in its 11th year of outdoor track & field and Cross Country. We have had 70 boys district winners including: 28 field events, 22 running events, 14 relays, and 6 hurdling. The boys team won its first regional title in 2010 and has won district title in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and has been runner up twice. Nine of those district winners have gone on to win region titles, and we have two individual state titles both won by Noah Thompson in the Pole Vault. Our best state finish was tied for ninth, in 2009.
The girls team has had 45 district winners including: 16 field events, 10 hurdling events, 4 running events, and 5 relays. Our girls team won the district title in 2005 and 2007, and have been the runners up five other times. Sixteen of the girls individual district winners also went on to win the region in their events, and Catie Bowne, who won 15 of the district titles and 11 of the region titles, also went on to win the state titles in three different events 7 times. In 2010, Sharonda Jones placed 2nd in state for the shot put and 8th for the discus. Our best girls team finish at region was third twice, and at state was tied for sixth in 2005. There have been 50 boys that have participated in previous state track meets, and 33 girls. Look for the Crusader boys to try to go for 4 district titles in a row. The girls are looking to surpass the South Florida Heat this year and take back the girls District title. Our teams are coached by Brad Lindbergh (Head Coach/Throws, High Jump, Middle Distance), George LePorte (Sprint/Relays), Lauren Moxey(Distance), Dave Carrier(Pole Vault), Tahnee Hunter(Hurdles) and Mark Chandler(Middle School). The Crusader Cross Country team is young but looking to be competitive in 2012 and the girls team is lead by Senior Abbie Slupecki as the girls should be competitive.
