States! Here we come :) It is going to be nice to back at Little Everglades. Our girls team has surpassed any expectations that we had in the beginning of the season. This has been an amazing season with a Cinderella Ending. Who would have suspected Gulf as a top contender after loosing Ajla for the beginning of the season Natalie for almost the entire season to an injury and three freshman on the squad. But, the girls pulled together and showed that Gulf is back and in top form with no where to go, but UP!
Leading the way today was Angela Way with a 17th place finish. Angela had her best time of the season with a 20:29 and was the TOP PLACING FRESHMAN in our Region Meet.
Renee Patnode and Ajla Spidojic really pulled through and ran a 21:18 squeaking in to the top 30 finishing 29th and 30th overall.
Natalie Smith coming in with her best time of the season and stepping up when one of runner was struggling to come in with a 21:45 and in 41st place.
Brook Rossi, although struggled, managed to hang in strong and finish with a 21:52, good enough for a 43rd place finish.
Mia Savino inching closer to breaking the 22:00 mark with a 22:05 placing 48th overall
Rounding out our team was Rachael Patnode, with an amazing kick to end with a 22:29.
Nick Buliga ended his season today. Although, not what he expected and what we hoped for, Nick had an amazing season. Nick has ended with the #1 Top Sophomore time of 16:40. Nick logged in over 1000 miles for the season and has become a true leader for our up and coming boys program. Look for Nick to be one of the best runners in the State next season as he trains hard in quest of his goals! Good Luck to him and his very young team.
