Outdoor season is just a few weeks away here in Florida (let's hope it warms up by then!) and teams all around the state will are beginning their workouts to gear up. And I'm gearing up here at flrunners as well.
I am starting to look at what meets I'll be able to attend and make plans for coverage. If anyone is interested in contributing content this year, please let me know! I would love to publish your photos, video, or meet summaries. And, of course, please send in your complete meet results and I'll get them all posted from invitationals to dual meets.
My plan is to try to do a lot more video this spring. It's sometimes difficult to shoot both photos and video, so the photos may suffer a bit. But I got a really good reaction to the video I shot at the state meet in cross country and I feel like that is where the internet is going. I know photos are important too and hopefully we'll still be able to get photos either that I'm able to shoot or others send in. I have a new, automated way for people to submit video to me. I may make this public, but may not... if you're interested in contributing video let me know and I'll share this with you.
We of course are making plans for our Middle School State Championship and regional qualifiers. We have five excellent regional hosts, who should put on wonderful meets with record turnouts, leading up to what will be the best state championship meet ever! It's in Clermont again this year, the same day as the 4A state meet. But the middle school meet is in the morning/afternoon while the 4A meet is that evening about a 45 minute drive away, so you can still do both! I know I will!!
I am also gearing up already for the flrunners.com Invitational 8 in cross country. We have some awesome plans for this one. It will move to Titusville this year, the first weekend in October. We already have out-of-state teams commited from as far away as Ohio--it should be fun. I also have some really cool plans for a banquet on Friday night. I'll announce more specific plans later, but I hope you can make that! Seating may be limited!!
Here are the 2007 elite standards that we will use. These will serve for all four seasons: indoor, outdoor, road, and cross country. They are for the most part unchanged from what we have previouslly had. Elite standards are used as the minimum standard for inclusion in athlete profiles and rankings. Athletes who qualify for an elite performance also are elligible to order an elite performance certificate to honor their performance in our online store.

* = Will be converted to 1600 or 3200.
Hand Time Policy
Hand times should always be first rounded UP to the NEXT tenth. We will then add a .24 hand-time penalty for events from 1-400 meters. Events longer than that will no longer have a penalty added, but should still be reported rounded up to the next tenth. Any times submitted without a tenth place (such as a 1600 or 3200) will be considered .9 of that second. Please don't report times this way if you can help it. This only relates to indoor and outdoor--not road or cross country.
Wind-Aided Performances
We will still count wind-aided performances in the rankings; however, they will be denoted with a w to designate this. Wind-aided is considered over 2.0. If no wind gauge is present, but gusty conditions are observed we may infer a wind-aided time/mark.
Ultimate Right to Refuse Inclusion
I reserve the right to refuse any performance from inclusion in the rankings based on my sole discretion. This will only be the case if the time/mark is considered suspicious or inaccurate. I do this very rarely and if it happens, I will leave a note on the meet explaining the situation.
Reporting Meet Results - Please submit meet results using this form or otherwise by emailing jason@flrunners.com.
- Complete results in Hytek or RaceTab format are perferred.
- If we miss any elite performances, please use this form to let us know or email me.
Middle School Notes - Hurdle heights are all low hurdles
- Shot weight will be 6lbs for girls and 4kg for boys. Discus weight will be 1kg.
