Bracy Excited For Team Aspect Of World Relays

Two and a half months after earning a silver medal at the IAAF World Indoor Championships, former Boone High School and FSU standout Marvin Bracy is back on the world stage. Bracy, Trell Kimmons, Calesio Newman, and Mike Rodgers will make up the Team USA 4x100m Relay at the IAAF World Relays this weekend in Nassau, Bahamas. We caught up with the speedster who was in between travel from his latest meet in Puerto Rico and meeting up with his new teammates in the Bahamas.

The outdoor season is relatively new. How has training been going?

Training has been going great. So far this year I've competed in the Florida Relays, Tom Jones Invite, and the NTC Invitational.

You recently ran at the 2014 Ponce Grande Prix In Puerto Rico where you finished 6th in 10.42. Definitely not your best race. What did you take from that meet?

From Puerto Rico. I learned that even though you may feel great you aren't always ready to run a PB.

How did you find out you were selected for the World Relays and what are you looking forward to the most?

Earlier in the seasonUSATF released a list of the possible runners they might take and I was on there. I'm just looking forward to playing my part. 'Ive never ran on a major team so I'll make the most of it.

When was the last time you ran in a relay and how do you prepare for them?

I ran the  4x100 at Florida Relays this year. I do the same to prepare for a relay as I would do to prepare for a individual event.

What are your goals for the meet?

The ultimate goal for this week is to definitely win, but my main focus is to make sure I do my part well.

It is the Bahamas. Do you plan on hitting up the beach after the meet is over?

Being that my hotel sits on the beach I will definitely be there!
