The Lake Mary boy's cross country team escaped the Region of Death in 2013, by clinching the fifth of six spots to advance to the Cross Country Finals. Picked as the ninth best team in their REGION, they finished ninth at the Cross Country Finals, the best finish in school history. This year the Rams return four of their top five from that team including a powerful 1-2 punch in seniors Ryan DeGale and Christian Amans who were 17th and 42nd at the state meet  in 2013. Junior John Lyons and senior Cole Trask will be joined by incoming freshman Devin Boyle to round out the top five.
 
According to our 4A team rankings, the Rams are the eighth best team, but not so fast.  A look at the top returners by track times paints a different story.  Lake Mary has eight runners under five minutes for 1600m with Christian Aman leading the way with a 4:20.83 clocking. Three others have run under 4:40. That is second best behind only Winter Park who is arguably the favorite in 4A. If you look at the 3200m times, their are three under 10:00 which is the best in the classification. 
 
Depth will be a great advantage for Coach Bryan Corkins. The team averaged 14-15 runners for all the conditioning workouts and will have one of the largest freshman classes coming in this season with many of the rookies starting to come on strong. The Rams look to improve on their ninth place finish from 2013, but will need the back end of their line up to step up much like they did at the 4A Region 1 meet a year ago. 

Coach Corkins Says..

"The number one team goal has to be coming closer as a team. Great teams have great parents, coaches, athletes, etc. However, it always comes from within. Those magic five have to be head and shoulders above the rest of the competition. This year looks to be one of the most competitive 4A has seen in a long time."
