Another South Florida talent Symone Mason of Miami Southridge, the New Balance Nationals runner-up and World Youth Trials champion, nabbed the third qualifying spot in her heat of the semi-finals to make the final event. In the final, which saw a new world youth leading time of 51.80 by Bahrain's Salwa Eid Nasser, Mason finished in 8th with a time of 53.55, shy of her 52.80 personal best.
