Westminster Christian's Claire Kennedy has the top season best in the field,but she was fifth at 1A District 16 behind four of her teammates who all finished within one minute of each other. Kennedy, Andrea Zumpano, Kyra Wells, Megan Brais, and Malena Pochat all have the potential to take home the regional title. Looking to break up the group is Boca Raton Christian 8th grader Jasmine Hincapie. Hincapie won 1A District 13 and has broken 20 minutes three times this season.
The Westminster Christian girls are the only 1A Region 4 team ranked in our latest FACA Rankings coming in at number four. The District 16 champions and defending regional champions have the potential to place four in the top five and all five in the top ten! Boca Raton Christian is in a good spot for the regional runner-up trophy with 8th grader Jasmine Hincapie leading the way. Kings Academy and Miami Country Day are top four teams, with the last two spots up for grabs between Westminster Academy, Palmer Trinity, and South Florida HEAT.
Boca Raton Christian senior Tucker Hindle and Highlands Christian sophomore Ryan Szklany are no strangers to competing against each other. A simple compare athletes search shows those match ups with Hindle recently winning the district championship in a personal best 16:26.75 to 16:18.20 These two along with 1A District 15 winner Guilherme Pereira of Divine Savior Academy will be the three to beat. Pereira owns a personal best of 16:30.99 from the Junior Orange Bowl Invitational where he was 4th against South Florida's best.
Westminster Academy and Miami Country Day should both have their top 5 within the top 30. WA has the advantage with a stronger 1-4 that should all finish in the top 15. Marathon has been strong during the latter part of the season. Look for them to make it to Tally along with Palmer Trinity, Doctors Charter School, and Highlands Christian Academy.
