8th Grade Star Tamari Davis Shines In Season Opener, Clocks Times Of 12.01 & 24.45

Abraham Lincoln Middle School 8th grader Tamari Davis was third at the Adidas Dream 100 last summer. In December, she competed indoors and ran 7.60 in the 60m dash and 24.95 in the 200m dash. Less than two months later she continued show why she is one of the most promising young talents in the nation.

Davis opened up her outdoor season at the Oak Hall Middle School Mini Meet and torched the field in the 100m dash with a time of 12.01 and followed that up with her fifth fastest 200m dash ever, 24.45s. Coach Gary Evans says he was happy with her performances.

"We were very pleased with her opener despite the cold weather. We will try and do a few more high profile meets this year and a meet in the Caribbean this year. We will start strength work more this year with bands, med balls, and body weight, but she is still to young for weights this year."

Davis owns personal bests of 11.77 and 23.94 from the Dream 100 and Flo Golden South. Evans knows the future is bright and the potential is limitless.

"We have our eyes set on some times this year and we are going to work hard to obtain them."
