How She Got Here: 8th at Foot Locker South Regional in 17:30.00
Her Resume: If it wasn't for Hertenstein in her way, Hendrix would have a lot more wins in 2017. Hertenstein says her records will be broken by the youngster in the next two years. The Riverview standout one her first three races and was runner-up at the FLRunners.com Invitational Race of Champions. She continued to shine in the second half of the season with five sub 18 minute performances including the second fastest times ever at Holloway Park and Apalachee Regional Park courses (17:56.85 and 17:30.82). She was the 4A Cross Country Finals runner-up dropping her time a minute from the prior year and dropped a new personal best at Foot Locker South to lock in a trip to Nationals.
National Outlook: Hendrix is the least experienced of the group. A converted soccer player, she's only been running for two years. When we were at her recent workout, Coach Stephen Dunn said the it factor for Alyssa is that she doesn't have a stop button and is go, go, go all the time. Hertenstein has told her to enjoy the experience, but make no doubt about it, she is a competitor in every sense of the word.
