4A Girls Rankings:
By: Ryan Raposo, Ferguson HS - rraposo@dadeschools.net

Commentary: The podium position at the state meet looks to be between three teams that have just enough of an edge over their competitors to be able to fight for it all. We still have a few weeks to go, but with the way the season has broken down, there doesn't seen to be much sway in our top four teams. Also, the top 10/11 teams have looked to be pretty solid as well and I think there is too much of a gap for the group 12th and beyond to try and catch that top 10 finish. But who knows, after all these are just rankings right?

Team Rankings:
Team Name, Region -  (Prev.)  Comments:

1A Boys Rankings:
By: Carl Egbert - cegbert@communityschoolnaples.org

Commentary: Trinity Prep and Holy Trinity  are still the class of the 1A field by leaps and bounds. Holy Trinity had a narrow defeat to Estero at FSU then took care of business at their own invite. Trinity Prep had a minor hiccup at Pre-State with Salas slightly off form losing to Columbus. The individual battle is shaping up to be a great one. I can see it playing out a few different ways to be honest. Does Trinity Prep pack run to secure the title and let Kilgore , Swain and a few others go? Or could we see a replay of the state track meet where it turns into a war with say a kilometer to go? Either way it's going to be exciting.

Commentary: David Kilgore absolutely crushed the course record at his home invite running 15:14 , breaking the course record by 21 seconds. Lots of studs have raced on that course making his effort all the more impressive. Stacked up behind him are a trio of Trinity Prep runners all in the 15:30s and the 2x champ Pat Swain I'm sure will be in the conversation. So here we go with the TOP 20 individuals.

  Team Name -    Comments:
1. Estero -   This team has come on very strong these last few weeks and recently beat Holy Trinity at the FSU Invite. Baring any major catastrophes they should claim the team title easily.
2. Berkeley Prep -   with 3 seniors and 2 juniors in the scoring 5 I expect them to have a big day at State. They should be able to hold off the hard charging group from BK.
3. Bishop Kenny -   EVERY year this team is in the top 3 of the 2A classification. This year should be no different.
4. Ransom Everglades -   This group from down south should be able to thrive under the cool temperatures that the state meet provides. They also have the coaching experience matched by few schools in the state. They will be ready to roll.
5. Astronaut -   with 4 seniors and 1 junior in their top 5 they will be ready to grab a top 3 spot at state if any of the teams in front of them slip up.
6. Tampa Jesuit
7. Nease
8. George M. Steinbrenner
9. Matanzas
10. Rockledge

Individual Rankings:
  Athlete Name (Team)   Comments:
1. Bert Irigoyen (Ransom Everglades)   I called him before the season started and I stand by my pick.
2. Tim Hendricks (North Broward Prep)   Has been getting consistently faster every week. Should challenge Irigoyen for the title.
3. Aaron Rojas (Estero)   Looks to lead a pack of Estero guys to a dominating team title.
4. Nicholas Palermo (North Broward Prep)   Look for him to work with teammate Tim Hendricks up front.
5. Michael Rosenbach (Berkeley Prep)   A top five finish for him is crucial to his team doing well.
6. Blake Lopez (Tampa Jesuit)   A consistent 15:55 guy
7. Julian Chavez (Estero)   Will lead the pack of Estero’s 2-4 guys
8. Trent Craig (Cypress Lake)   Ran really well at Flrunners.com Invite.
9. Taylor Hickey (Rockledge)   Dad is a running LEGEND. Expect him to follow in those footsteps.
10. Mac Reynolds (Nease)   The “Mac Attack” was running in the 16:20 to 16:45 range before he popped his 16:12 at Prestate. I don’t think that race was a fluke.
11. Gabriel Barron (Labelle)
12. Jesse Littlefield (Estero)
13. Steve Briner (Estero)
14. Michael Barr (Bishop Kenny)

3A Boys Rankings:
By: David Gardner, Timber Creek HS- david.gardner@ocps.net

Commentary:  Yes my friends….the insanity has returned, along with the bad jokes.  But as for the rankings, they are spot on with some major analysis and some very fast times to stir the 3A kettle.  Things are getting steamy as we stew over the last month of competition...its a pot luck season I can't wait to see plated.

Team Rankings:
Team Name, Region -  (Prev.)  Comments:
1. CHARLOTTE  (PUNTA GORDA)  # 1 REGION 3 (2) I would finally like to quiet all the fish stories about how picking Charlotte as my preseason #1 was the biggest "whopper" they've ever heard.  Now thanks to Cardillo and Company, The Tarps are swimming strong with what I have previously mentioned as the best 2-3-4 in 3A. Mendez has finally joined the "school" and is providing a crucial safety net at number 5.  All other teams have been fished in, Charlotte is now the new Kings of the 3A Sea.
2. BELEN JESUIT (MIAMI) # 1 REGION 4 (1) Belen is in for a battle come November... the Wolverines are going to have to claw their way through the speed of Charlotte to hook the Tarps in Dade City.  Lindsay is going to have to close in on Schnulle if Belen wants to top the stand at Little Everglades with the "catch of the day".
3. LEON (TALLAHASSEE) # 1 REGION 1 (4) Lurking close to the Top 2, Leon has to get their 2-3-4 involved in the "hunt" if they want to defend their pride this year at State.
4. BOOKER T. WASHINGTON (PENSACOLA)# 2 REGION 1 (3) They are falling back slightly in the rankings due to a sub-par performance in Georgia...but don't judge a "Booker" by its cover.  Even though Eagles Landing is described as a fast course, these cats are no kittens.  Looks like the boys from Pensacola have been working on sharpening Harrison's claws so he can hold with the clowder.
5. FORT WALTON  BEACH (FT. WALTON BCH) # 3 REGION 1 (7) FWB should stand for Finish With Beastliness.  That’s just what this band of Vikes is doing with the 2nd half of the season.  They have one of the Top 10's deepest squads with talent that extends like a longship and with "Dearmon the Horrible" leading the way Fort Walton could surprise attack some teams in the end and conquer the competition.
6. NAPLES (NAPLES) # 2 REGION 3 (8) Gates stellar showing at Flrunners has set the Eagles aloft.  If brother Buddy and Fernandez can become a stronger 4-5, Naples could punch their "golden" ticket come November.
7. WIREGRASS RANCH (WESLEY CHAPEL)  # 1 REGION 2 (5) The Ranch has figured out a way to corral their top 5 into a nice herd.  Reilly is finally establishing himself as the dominant bull and Pulsifer and Hippley have made a late season charge.  Its going to come down to the "wire" for a Top 5 finish.
8. NICEVILLE (NICEVILLE) #4 REGION 1 (6) A front runner would be awfully "nice" for this group.  That is really the only thing stopping them from taking flight as one of the elite programs in 3A.  If their two young eaglets (Howell and Morken) can leave the nest and fly to new heights, the senior birds should follow.
9. FT. MYERS (FT. MYERS) #3 REGION 3 (16) Making the biggest move in the rankings is Tsunami Sam.  Ryan Stafford has gained strength and it is not a "fable" that his sidekick Brown is out to teach the competition a lesson.  The move of Ft Myers to the Top 10 is no small wake…the storm is a comin'!
10. BARTRAM TRAIL (ST. JOHNS) #5 REGION 1 (9) The Bears are clearing ground and posting times that should mark one of the last spots in the Region of Torture.  If the senior Jagemann can make a late season push, all "trails" may lead to Dade City.
11. CREEKSIDE (ST. JOHNS) # 6 REGION 1  (13)
12. CHILES (TALLAHASSEE)  #7 REGION 1, OUT OF STATE CHAMP. (12)
13. LINCOLN (TALLAHASSEE) # 8 REGION 1, OUT OF STATE CHAMP. (11)
14. LAND O LAKES (LAND O LAKES) # 2 REGION 2 (10)
15. ST. CLOUD (ST. CLOUD) #2 REGION 4 (15)
16. PALMETTO RIDGE (NAPLES) #4 REGION 3  (NR)
17. IDA S. BAKER (CAPE CORAL) #5 REGION 3 (NR)
18. MARTIN COUNTY (STUART) #3 REGION 4 (NR)
19. OVIEDO (OVIEDO) # 3 REGION 2 (19)
20. NATURE COAST TECH (BROOKSVILLE) # 4 REGION 2 (14)

Individual Rankings:
Athlete Name, Grade – Team (Prev.)  Time, Comments:
1.  Jimmy Clark, Creekside  (1) DeValle ran like a steaming locomotive at the Glades and unveiled Jimmy's "Clark" Kent identity. No need to worry for this superhero, there's no one in 3A who can put a dent in his steel cape.  Clark makes Dade City his Metropolis on November 20th.
2.  Tyler Cardillo, Charlotte  (3) El nuevo numero dos…and that's were I see him finishing in the end this year.  He was my darkhorse to begin the season and he hasn't let me down.  Put your chips on Cardillo to "Place" when it counts.
3.  Elliot Clemente, Belen Jesuit  (2) The fact that Cardillo and Schnulle made Clemente a Charlotte sandwich is not going to sit right with Elliot.  Expect him and Belen to feast in the month of November and try to make Cardillo his snack at State.
4.  Ryan Schnulle, Charlotte (4) Cardillo is not the only King in town.  Schnulle is making a case that he wants to anoint the Tarpons to greatness and lead Charlotte to the Promised Land.
5.  Will Bridges, Edgewater  (11) Bridges is reinforced and ready to finish the season strong.  As long as troubled waters stay calm the "gate for gold" is wide open for Will to take a Top 5 at State.
6.  Riley Doherty, Leon (5) Could he be the King of the Dade City forest…in a month we will find out if Riley can stalk down the competition for a Top 5 finish.
7.  Joseph Lindsay, Belen Jesuit (9) This is no average Joe, Lindsay is making a move to narrow the Charlotte gap, the only question is can he bring his friends with him?
8.  Quincy O' Connor, Celebration  (6) "Q Dog" is a long way from home, but were finding out this New York transfer has a bite much worse than his bark.  It could be "celebration" time in Dade City for O'Connor…
9.  Anthony Borrego, Charlotte (NR) Its "all for one and one for all" with the Charlotte trio.  Borrego is playing the role of Aramis, but finishing Top 10 on a State Championship team will suit him just fine.
10.  John Hazelton, Leon (15) Borrego was like a marked gazelle on the Dade City savannah…unfortunately for Leon's #2 lion the pursuit ended with disappointment.  Don't expect Hazelton to go hungry on November 20th.
11.  Jake Dearmon, Fort Walton Beach (NR) 15:57 The Glades
12.  Taylor Buzzard, Chiles (13) 15:57 The Glades
13.  Alex Foss, George Jenkins (16) 15:59 The Glades
14.  Harsha Torke, Viera (17) 16:01 Holy Trinity
15.  Ryan Stafford, Fort Myers (NR) 16:03 The Glades
16.  Kamal Korso, Terry Parker (NR) 16:03 Gateway Champ
17.  Bryan Hilgar, Charlotte (NR) 16:06 The Glades
18.  Herbert Gates, Naples (7) 16:00 Flrunners/16:13 The Glades
19.  Peter Fricke, Booker T. Washington (8) 16:02 Bale N Trail/16:42 Eagles Landing
20  Carlos Miranda, Palmetto Ridge (NR) 15:57 Lehigh Lightning/16:31 Triton Invite
