Osking Signs NLI with South Florida

John Carroll senior Justin Osking signed a National Letter of Intent today with the University of South Florida at a school signing ceremony.  The 1A state champion in the shot put is the top returning thrower in the discus (178-9) and the #2 returner in the shot (56-0).

Justin told flrunners.com that he USF felt like the right decision for a number of reasons:

"It is close to home, which is important to me, and it is a good school both athletically and academically. They have put a lot of money into their athletics program lately... and have a brand new track facility. Coach (Toby) Collier is a great throws coach. It's going to be lots of fun!"

About getting the decision over before the start of the season:

"It's going to be great to have no pressure on the season. And I'll just be able to focus on doing well and not worrying about recruiting."

And about what he is shooting for this year:

"I'm hoping to win both (the shot put and discus) titles. I don't know what kind of throws I'll be able to put up... since I'm coming off of ALC surgery from this off-season."
