Watch out for Kurt Convey. The Coral Reef freshman finished second at the conference meet, first at districts, and can now add regional champion to his impressive resume. Convey broke up Miami Columbus' chance at a perfect score. He beat out Danny Fernandez who won the GMAC Championships by nearly 18 seconds. His time of 16:12.48 at Larry and Penny is the second fastest he has run all year.
While Convey was impressive getting the victory Miami Columbus dominated the team standings. The explorers led by Fernandez finished second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth. The spread between the top five was just thirteen seconds! While the individual battle in 3A might be the best race of the day the quest for the 4A team title between Colonial and Columbus will be a shootout.
