McDermott National Finalist For Wendy's Heisman

Lakewood Ranch senior Devin McDermott is one of twelve national finalists for the Wendy's High School Heisman. McDermott is a three sport athlete who competes in soccer, track and field, as well as cross country for the Mustangs. The criteria was based on a combination of athletic achievements, academic excellence, and community leadership.

She was chosen from a field of 48,000 applicants competing for the title of national winner. One male and one female from every participating  high school became school winners. It was then narrowed down from 10,000 School Winners to 1,020 State Finalists to 102 State Winners. Those winners were broken into six geographical Heisman Regions where they named 12 National Finalists.

All finalists will receive a $2000 award donated in their name to their high school as well as a gold medal, Heisman, patch, and a $100 Wendy's gift card. The National Award Winners will receive $10,000 donated in their name and a $500 Wendy's gift card. The winners will be announced December 10th in New York City.
