Message From Coach Anthony Triana:

This grant would be huge for our school and community as it will help put us half way to our goal of getting a brand new polyurethane rubber track and help our program exceed to new heights plus offering an economic boost to our community by bringing in teams and events to the area with a new track installed. The main motive behind us receiving the rubber track is to reduce the risk of injury to our kids who train on the track. Within the last year we have had 3 runner suffer from stress fractures in their Tibia or foot. Right now we mostly run in the grass around the track or different fields around the school because of the hard surface that hasn't been redone in years or the flooding that is cause on the track when it rains. Wharton throughout the years has won over 10 district championships, 7 regional titles and has had 2 state runner up finishes in Track and field and has been one of the most competitive teams in the state in Wharton short history. The Top 10 projects in each category will be awarded the grant and right now we are ranked 25th, but with the help from the FLrunners community I know that can help shoot us up the polls.
