Salute To Seniors: Katelyn Greenleaf - Northside Christian

What was your most memorable race?

My most memorable race was the Ed Radice Mud Bowl cross country meet!  It was our first meet of the season and it was a mess with many athlete's shoes getting stuck in the mud and everyone getting absolutely filthy.

What would you consider your biggest competition?

The 1600m at Florida Relays.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments what stands out the most?

I earned 18 FHSAA state cross country/track medals.  I have been running at the state meet since 6th grade and got my first state medal in 7th grade.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

Last year i went to a running camp in North Carolina and absolutely loved it/  I wish i would have gone to a running camp earlier because it was so much fun.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

My sophomore year I hit a plateau and my time did not drop  in cross country even with an increase in my training.  I had to train through this until my time started dropping again.

What will you miss the most?

I'm really going to miss all of the girls on my team and the many inside jokes we come up with every year.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

When I was younge I didn't enjoy running as much as i do now.  i didnt even want to run in college or after highschool when i was a freshman, but now i cant picture my life without running.  I would encourage younger athletes to stick with it and don't give it up because after awhile you may just find that you just love to run.

What are your college plans?

I am going to run for the University of Alabama and will study pre physical therapy

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I want to thank, first of all, God for giving me the ability to run.  Also i want to thank my coaches (especially my dad) for helping me get prepared for my races.  i want to thank my family (my sister Gabby, my grandma, and my mom)  for supporting me and always coming to watch my races.  Last I want to thank my close friends for being there for me and making running fun and for my friend Jordyn for always praying with me when i got really nervous before a big race.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

ROLL TIDE!!!
