Colonial Coach Rene Plasencia Runs... for Office!

Rene Plasencia has been running for years. He holds numerous records at the University of Central Florida and this past fall coached his Colonial boys cross country team to the first state championship (in any sport) in school history.

Yet even for someone who has been involved in so many races throughout his career, he is now in the midst of running the hardest race of his life: the race for the District 49 seat in the Florida House of Representatives. He will even appear on the ballot in August as Rene Plasencia "Coach P"!

Coach P was kind enough to take time out of his busy campaign schedule to visit us in the studio. We talk about the cross country team, his life experiences and family, and what has compelled him to become a politician.

Don't let where you live inhibit your ability to vote for Rene, Jeff. One of my favorite stories about LBJ was while running for Congress in Texas an aid was given a list of potential voters to call to "get out the vote".
Aide: Congressman Johnson, these people are all dead.
LBJ: Son, those people have just as much right to vote for me as any living people.

Living or dead, living in Orlando or Tampa - Vote for Coach P.

Good luck Rene! I don't think you'll have to resort to voter fraud to win.

For those of you at the polls for Rene, I also suggest you pull the lever for Ryan Williams (husband of Olympia's Coach Stacey Williams) for State Attorney!! Fantastic candidate and great guy!
