Meet Recap

Several schools from neighboring HIllsborough and Pinellas County headed to Pasco County for the Anclote Sharks Invitational. The grass course and shaded trails provided a great backdrop for a Saturday morning race.

Clearwater Central Catholic senior Saphara Harrell was looking for her first cross country win ever this weekend at the Anclote Sharks Invitational. Harrell coming off a sixth place finish and new personal best at the Mitchell Invitational continued the momentum going into Saturday's race. She lead from the get go and ran unchallenged the remainder of the race as she set a new personal best crossing the line in a time of 20:55.30. The real battle was for second place between Marina Levine of Largo and Kari Grippo of Gulf. Coming down the straight away Grippo had about a 20 meter lead on Levine, but Levine turned on the turbo and sprinted past her to finish as runner-up in 21:28.40. Grippo was third in 21:30.10. Julia DeYoung of Robinson and Emily Kerns of Mitchell rounded out the top five. DeYoung's fourth place finish gave Robinson the team title with 88 points over Palm Harbor University (100 points), and Largo (115 points).

It was another strong outing for Jesuit's Tim O'Laughlin the senior went right to the front at the beginning of the race and provided a good five second gap between him and the rest of the field. O'Laughlin crossed the line first in 17:37.40 averaging 5:41 a mile. A pack of three was right behind him Osceola's Hunter McCann (17:43.40) Anclote's Spencer Guerette (17:44.80) and Gulf's Nick Buliga (17:45.90). Thomas Grzesiakowski finished fifth for Osceola.
