I hope you all are enjoying your cross-country season! The 2015 season is well underway and we are now getting into the "big" races. This part of the season leaves no room for error, and as I like to say, a bad race is never a bad race if you learn from it. Boy, did I learn something this weekend.
One of the best races of the weekend was at the Alligator Lake XC Invitational as Emma Tucker of Chiles, Bridget Morse of Columbia, and Maggie Rice of Newberry went stride for stride until the last 100 meters of the race and crossed just tenths of a second within each other. Tucker was first in 19:01.27 with Morse and Rice behind her in 19:01.49 and 19:01.92. Watch the finish courtesy of Dusty Smith and B3R Promotions.
Kayley DeLay of Fletcher won the Bale-n-Trail Cross Country Original in 18:20.44, the fourth fastest time of the week. We merged all the results state wide to find out the top 500 girls times for week five. See where you rank?

It's hard to believe, but this Saturday will be the 15th running of the middle school division at the FLR Invitational. What started off as a handful of local junior high runners has turned into one of the biggest meets on a quickly-growing FLYRA middle school XC calendar. Here's a quick primer on what you'll see at zero-dark-twenty on Saturday.
Key West freshman Nicole Matysik isn't afraid of a little competition. Matysik's 18:54.87 at the Pine Crest Invitational is the second fastest of any freshman in Florida behind only Mt.
