At only 4'10" Lincoln's Alyson Churchill doesn't let her size deter her. Churchill is only a freshman and on pace to add track titles to her 2016 Cross Country Finals state championship.
Lincoln freshman Alyson Churchill won the 2017 FSU Relays 3,200m in a US#1 time of 10:23.81.
The Lincoln girls were on fire in 2016 setting meet records in both the the 4x100 and 4x200m relays.
The 2017 Chiles Freshman-Sophomore Championships gave the young talent in and around Tallahassee a chance to run against their peers. As Blaine Thomas tells us age is just a number. The fact that some of these athletes can compete with athletes two or three years older is nothing out of the ordinary.
It was a day of a US #2 mark, 11 broken meet records, and it concluded with a throwers candy bar 4x100 relay race. The word thrilling doesn't do justice when referring to the 17th Annual Chiles Track and Field Championships, which was held at Chiles High School in Tallahassee, FL.

Cedric Gillette was on-site and captured over TWO THOUSAND including this image from the girl's 3A race that pitted two of the top freshman in the state in Lincoln's Alyson Churchill and Valerie Lastra of Mater Academy Charter. Churchill won the race in a new personal best of 17:55.22.
Lincoln freshman Alyson Churchill continued her fantastic season by winning her first district championship at the 3A-3 meet in Tallahassee. Churchill's time of 18:28.87 was more than a minute and a half faster than her nearest competitor. Matthew Cashin of Leon won the boys race while Chiles swept both team trophies. Chris Tucker was on-site and snapped over 400 photos of all the action.
Lincoln freshman Alyson Churchill came through the 1 mile mark at in 5:19 and managed to run the second fastest time of her career 18:06.70 to hold of senior Amanda Beach of MCC and win the largest race in her high school career, Pre-State.
For years, cross country athletes have had to listen to their coaches go on and on about slowing down in the warm-up or not racing in practice. They use famous quotes like "there are no 1 mile champions in a 5k race" or "you can't win anything by being first in the warmups." Well times are changing!
Lincoln freshman Alyson Churchill just began her high school career in cross country and has already become a spotlight runner. Starting her season at the Miller Landing Madness Alyson placed 10th with a time of 19:20. Just a week later Alyson ran 18:46 to win the Cougar XC Challenge. She is not new to running though. Alyson has run very well in the past including winning both the 3000m at the FLYRA Panhandle Regional Middle School Qualifier and 1600m at the Leon County Middle School Championships. We caught up with Alyson to talk summer training, transitioning to high school, the 2016 season, and much more.

The Miami Northwestern Lady Bulls were unstoppable at the Florida Relays running 45.65 in the PRELIMS. Dillard and Rockledge who own the second and third fastest times are nearly one second slower than MNW. The top five teams all ran 47 seconds or better. The top runners in the state of Florida will be in Tallahassee this weekend for the 2015 FSU Relays. The two-day event will feature both high school and college competition.
The Lincoln boys have some serious talent in the sprints and hurdles. That speed was on display at the Panhandle Open. Jeremy Danzie was on-site and captured this photo of the Trojans relay team and over 1,000 others from all the action!
With sunny skies and temperatures hovering in the 70's there really isn't reason for indoor track in Florida. However, Tamani Wilson who will run this year for Lincoln High School, wanted to take advantage of out of state competition. Wilson made the trip to Birmingham, Alabama to take part in the BSC Icebreaker meet where she clocked a US#1 56.65. She says the meet was an opportunity to see whee she is at in her fall training.
Junior Jadzia Beasley and teammate Briana Huff aren't waiting around for the official outdoor season to begin. The Lincoln High School duo who run for the North Florida Speed Track club team have competed in three indoor meets in the last month and a half.
