Junior Team Scores: Plant Lead By Class Of 2017 Standouts Todd Grasley Dec 08, 2015

Coach Roy Harrison's Plant Panthers finished 6th at the 4A Cross Country Finals guided by six out of seven junior class runners.  The squad was our top team from the class of 2019, followed right behind by Sarasota and Fort Myers by only ten points! Plant, Sarasota, Winter Park, and North Port all members of 4A are four of the top five teams. That experience should make for one fun state meet next November!


Sophomore Team Scores: More Belen Jesuit Boys, Bolles Close Second Todd Grasley Dec 07, 2015

Depth is everything. Who will the state championship teams of tomorrow be? We break down our team rankings by scoring each team with ONLY sophomores in their line up. Belen Jesuit had the top freshmen and also has the top runners based on the class of 2018 lead by Joshua Collins, but don't count out Bolles they are only eight points back.


Rafaella Gibbons 40th, Avery Creek Falls Short Of Goal At NXN Todd Grasley Dec 05, 2015

The 2015 Nike Cross Nationals didn't go quite as our Florida athletes had hoped. Two-time qualifier Rafaella Gibbons was 40th after finishing 27th last year and looking for All-American honors while the Avery Creek Running Club was aiming for a top ten finish and placed 22nd. No matter the outcome though we are proud of both for representing Florida on the national stage!


NXN Spotlight: Franco Martins (2014) Todd Grasley Dec 04, 2015

Last year at this time Franco Martins was a senior at Windermere Prep. Martins was coming off his second consecutive 1A cross country state championship and a 4th place showing at NXNSE. He says the road to Portland was a somewhat stressful, but exciting one, because competing hard during the state series with the ultimate goal making it to a national meet puts a very serious tone to your running.

The college decision is in for Community School of Naples senior Lindsay Tomaini. Tomaini who owns personal bests of 5:13.68 (1,600m), 11:14.57 (3,200m), and 18:45.20 (5k) ultimately selected the TCU Horned Frogs over the University of Florida. We caught up with her to talk about her college plans.


Jimmy Carnes Indoor Meet Set To Return For 2016 Press Release Nov 30, 2015

The 9th Annual Jimmy Carnes Indoor Track and Field meet will be contested in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center on Saturday, February 6, 2016.  The meet is conducted under the auspices of the Gainesville Sports Commission.  This will be the last track meet contested on the storied 35 year old O'Connell Center track which has seen numerous World, USA professional, high school, and age group records and national leaders. Later this year, the "O'Dome" renovations begin which include removing the track.
