Flrunners.com: What was the recruiting process like?
Lindsay Tomaini: The recruiting process was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed visiting some great schools and meeting some wonderful coaches. It is exciting to view and try to get a glimpse of what it would be like to be a D1 athlete. I really enjoyed meeting fellow passionate athletes from various schools as well. The best part may have been traveling with my family and making memories along the way.
FLR: Where all did you consider/visit?
LT: I had unofficial visits to many schools throughout the southeast including University of Florida, TCU, Texas A&M, Baylor, Texas, Alabama, South Carolina, Clemson and the University of Miami. This fall I had the pleasure to go on official visits to TCU and University of Florida with two other officials planned for January until I signed early. I always wanted to run in a big conference and the SEC and Big 12 peaked my interest the most.
FLR: In the end why did you pick TCU?
LT: Texas Christian University is an amazing place! I fell in love with the Fort Worth area. I plan on studying Sports Journalism & Broadcasting and they have an incredible college for that in a major media market. The campus is beautiful and I really enjoyed getting to know Coach Fazioli and the women on the team. The facilities were speechless. Another factor was the tremendous opportunity to contribute early to the team. Coach Faz & Coach Anderson are building a great distance and cross country program. The thought of competing in a power conference like the Big 12 was really exciting. I truly am looking forward to my life at TCU.
FLR: With the decision behind you, what are your goals for your senior track season?
LT: My goals will remain practically the same.To get better each week and help my track team achieve its seasons goals. I personally am planning to improve on my 1600 & 3200 times while trying to qualify for states in each event along with helping our 4x 800 team get to Jacksonville as well. I look forward to competing at all the major meets in the state and am hoping to peak again in April for regionals and states. I look forward to a great summer after that in preparation for college.
FLR: What kind of athlete is TCU getting in Lindsay Tomaini?
LT: TCU is getting a dedicated athlete who will continue to train extremely hard and be a great teammate. I look forward to helping my team compete for Big 12 Championships. I cannot wait to work under Coach Faz and her program to achieve all my goals and be the best runner I could possibly be.
FLR: Is there anyone you'd like to thank you for getting to where you are at?
LT: I want to personally thank all my coaches for their tremendous support, encouragement, and help in preparing me to be the best runner I could be. I also want to thank my all my teachers, my teammates, fellow runners and of course my parents & big brother for all of their support.
