It's not all about the relays at the Florida Relays. Check out the girls individual event preview here.

Girls' 100m Hurdles

Osceola senior and Tennessee signee, Dominique Turner owns the best personal best of the field- a 13.72(0.2) in finishing second at the FHSAA 4A State Champs. Her 14.03 seasonal best is slightly slower, but she looks to be heading into the sub 14 range where she belongs.

Dr. Phillips senior, Alahni Wood owns seasonal best mark of 14.00 and has improved 0.52 over her 5th place finish at the 4A State Champs where Tuner was runner-up. A sub 14 would be a personal best for Wood.

Twanisha Terry just missed losing the Bob Hayes Invite by the scanted of margins- .04 seconds- for her wind legal personal best of 11.76(+0.2). The 2015 3A State champ owns a windy personal best of 11.34(+30) in finishing 2nd at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals.

Miami signee and Pasco senior, Alfreda Steele has the fastest wind legal time of the field- a 11.33(+2.0) in finishing third at the Brooks PR Invitational.

These two will be the class of the field and a sub 11.6 would be a glimpse of what is to come later this season.

Girls' Discus

Debbie Ajagbe negotiated the rain soaked discus circle well at last weekend's FSU Relays, but did not come close to her 157-10 state leading throw at March 8's Belen Home meet. The defending 2A State Champ has one other throw over 140+ feet and consistently throws around the 130 foot range, so she should be in the hunt for the title.

Her best test could come from defending 1A State Champ Stephanie Paul of Community School of Naples. Her personal best of 137-10.50 is within range of Ajagbe and well ahead of the other contenders.

Top entries

Debbie Ajagbe, Jr, Ransom Everglades, 2016 Belen Home Meet, 1st, 157-10, 2016 FSU Relays, 1st, 129-05, 2015 FHSAA 2A State Champs, 1st, 135-03

Girls' Long Jump

The GMAC will be represented well. The Gold and Silver medalist teammates from Northwestern have the top marks entering the meet. They again contend against each other with Alexander being a slight favorite over her teammate Brianna Eskridge after her 19-00.50 winning mark and state leading mark at GMACs.

Top entries

Taranique Alexander, Jr, Northwestern (Miami), 2016 GMAC Champs, 1st, 19-00.50(NWI), 2015 FHSAA 3A State Champs, 4th, 18-08.50(-2.1) wind legal personal best

Briana Eskridge, Sr, Northwestern (Miami), 2016 GMAC Champs, 2nd, 18-07.50(MWI), 2016 Bob Hayes Invite, 2nd, 18-01

Girls' High Jump

This one will go to the athlete who has the cleanest series of jumps. That seems cliché in this event, but eight of the top entrants have personal bests within two and half inches of each other.

Creekside's Jordan Fields comes in with the best personal best, a 5-08.50 mark from the 2014 New Balance Outdoor Nationals. This season, she has leapt 5-06 putting her amongst the crowded field.

Tiara McMinn and Brianna Eskridge have the best jumps this season-5-08- McMinn having the slight edge clearing 5-08 twice- once to finish second at the FHSAA 2A State Champs and at the Sam Burley Hall of Fame classic in February.

And don't discount Domonique Turner. The Osceola senior has a personal best of 5-08 and could be in the mix should she be able to match that mark.

Top entries

Girls' Shot Put

Sherry Lubin came up with a personal best in winning last weekend's FSU Relays with a throw of 43-09.75. That was a best by two feet, five and a quarter inches. She'll need that kind of throw to fend of Shanell Atkins who has a seasonal best of 43-05.75 and a personal best of 43-11.75.

Kayla Clark, Debbie Ajagbe, Dorian Solomon and Chanel Dawson all have marks of 42 feet or better so this one is too close to call.

Girls' Triple Jump

Taranique Alexander? Seems like I have heard that name before.  Oh yes, the Northwestern junior also owns the state's top mark in the triple jump. Her win came against another name you may have heard, Brianna Eskridge, her Northwestern teammate who finished second to her at the GMAC Championships. Both recorded 40+ marks with Alexander getting the win by a mere four inches with her 40-04.50 mark.

Girls' Pole Vault

Well, it is a good time to head south if you live in New York. Tedi Demaria will make the trek to what could be sweltering conditions for her. The Bethlehem Central senior is coming off an all-time personal best of 12-08.75 in finishing fourth at the New Balance National Indoor Championships.

Her best test will come from Florida's state leader, Nicole Breske of Winter Park who sports a 12-04 personal best set this season at the Brian Jaeger Classic. That mark was 22 inches better than her 2015 FHSAA 4A fourth place mark.
