The FLYRA Middles School State meet had multiple records fall yesterday in Bradenton on the IMG Academy track. The meet is always exciting. The boys' races had some impressive performances, but this year the girls stole the show with three Middle School US #1's and an additional two US Top 10's.

The girl's 100mH went to 8th grader Nia Armstrong of the VAST Track and Field Club. Armstrong won the race in 13.80 eclipsing the previous FLYRA record of 14.12 set by Kyra Swart of the Tallassee Zoom in 2022. Armstrong's time is a Florida Middles School #1 All-Time and a US Middle School #6 All-Time.

In the girls' 100m Pure House Athletics' 8th grader, Vanessa Waite ran a new FLYRA Middle School State Meet record of 11.53. The old record of 11.81 was set in 2023 by DC Elites Dasia Reed. Waites time is a Middle School Florida #2 All-Time, just off of the #1 All-Time by Tamari Davis (11.34 ) and a Middle School All-Time US #4. Ra'Nasia Simmons, a 7th grader, running for the Lake Well Fury Elite was 2nd in 11.73 also going under Reed's record placing her at FL #3 All-Time for 7th graders.

The team of Fabianna Foga, Vanessa Waite, Telani Wise and Ja'Kyla Dean of Power House Athletics set a new 4x100m Relay record of 47.70 breaking the old record of 48.48 set in 2023 by Supreme Performance Athletics. The 2nd and 3rd place teams, the Tampa Xpress Track Club and Supreme Performance Athletics broke the 48.48 record, running 47.97 and 48.83 respectively. The Power House girl's time is a Middle School Girl's US #2.

Gabriella Smith of IMG and Nia Armstrong VAST Track and Field Club went at each other again in the 200mH with Smith just edging out Armstrong in a 26.66. Armstrong went 26.67. The girls' times are Middle School US #1 and #2, US #7 and 8 All-Time and FL # 2 and 3 All-Time. The old meet record of 27.78 was set in 2022 by Kyra Swart running unattached.

The girls' 200m saw new US #1, 2 and 3's. Vanessa Waite of Power House Athletics led the way, breaking her 2nd meet record of the day, with a 23.37 performance. The previous record was held by Dasia Reed of 24.03. Waite's time is a Florida Middle School #2 All-Time behind the 23.21 run by Tamari Davis in 2017 at the Prefontaine Classic and a US Middle School #6 All-Time. Jewel Domingue of Fast Lane TC and from Tortola (BVI) was 2nd in 23.96 and Arianna Woolcock of FSG Athletics was 3rd in 24.00.
Jewel Domingue of the Fast Lane Track Club broke her own Triple Jump Record, jumping 12.15 (39-10.25). Her old record set last year was 11.37 (37-03.75. She also set a new record in the Long Jump of 6.0 (19-08.25) eclipsing the record of Alyssa Jones set in 2018 of 18-6.50.

A special note on the performance of 5th Grader Brianna Motycka of No Excuses Running Club. Motycka won both the Elementary Girls' 1500 and 800 in times of 5:02.08 and 2:27.98. We dont have Elementary School Girls' rankings but her 1500 time would have her ranked FL Middle School #8 and her 800m time would have her ranked #15.
