Rankings Explosion! Top 5,000 Girls 5K Times - 51 Girls Under 19:30 Todd Grasley Sep 26, 2016

Two girls added their names to the sub 18 club in 2016 with Bailey Hertenstein and Kayley Delay running 17:54.30 and 17:55 respectively, but none is faster than the 17:47.60 from Melbourne Central Catholic's Amanda Beach. Fourth through eighth in the rankings belong to freshman, while 51 girls have run under 19:30 this season. We have pulled out massive amounts of data to showcase the top 5000 boys 5K times of the 2016 season in the state of the Florida. Where do you rank now and where will you end up at season's end?

The Bolles sophomore is the state leader and one of ten athlete to run under 16 minutes in 2016 including Chiles junior Matthew Newland (pictured above) . We have pulled out massive amounts of data to showcase the top 5000 boys 5K times of the 2016 season in the state of the Florida. Defending 4A Cross Country Finals state champion Bailey Hertenstein and 2015 4A runner-up Kayley Delay added their names to the sub 18 minute club for the 2016 season. Hertenstein had the fastest time of the weekend running 17:54.30 at the North Port XC Invitational while Delay was first at the Katie Caples Invitational in 17:55.00. We merged the results from across the state to find out who won the weekend.

Belen Jesuit junior Joshua Collins set a new PR at the 2016 UF Mt. Dew Invitational with a time of 15:44.76, the third fastest time in Florida. Collins, who helped the Wolverines win the seeded race team title, was one of three runners to break 16 minutes, joining state leader Charles Hicks (15:49.00), and UF Mt. Dew Invitational runner-up Mason Jones (15:57.46). We merged results from every meet across the state to find out the top 500 times and who won the weekend.

It's a situation no athlete or coach wants to be involved in. Running a 5k is hard enough, but add in the sweltering Florida heat and humidity, and it can be flat out dangerous. I've witnessed numerous distance runners fall victim to dehydration, fatigue, and collapse at various points in the course, including seconds away from the finish. That very instance happened at the UF Mt. Dew Invitational in the boy's seeded race when hometown Buchholz senior Calum McFetridge took the lead after the two mile mark and says he felt decent before everything came tumbling down.

The Bolles boys and Bolles girls ranked first and second respectively in our Saucony Flo 50 team rankings showed why they are two of the best in the state after both team titles against a loaded field at the Katie Caples Invitational this weekend at Bishop Kenny High School. The Bolles boys won with sophomore standout and state leader Charles Hicks paving the way in 15:49. On the girl's side, Fletcher's Kayley Delay remained undefeated dipping under 18 minutes with a FL#3 mark of 17:55.

Kayley Delay ran a FL#3 time of 17:55 at the Katie Caples Invitational in Jacksonville Saturday night. Equally impressive as her time was the quality of competition she beat with names like Caitlin Collier of Bolles, Alyson Churchill of Lincoln and Ana Wallace of Chiles just to name a few, as well as several of our Saucony Flo 50 top girls teams. Cedric Gillette was on-site and captured over 1,250 photos of all the action!

Teams from all over the Southeast US including Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia made their way to Pensacola in the panhandle for the Gulf Coast XC Stampede. If you ever wondered how the meet got it's name look at the cover photo and wonder no more with dozens of teams and over a thousand athlete it's no wonder. Dave Shelikoff was on-site and captured just over 1,000 photos from the day's events.


UF Mt. Dew Invitational Combined Ind. & Team Results: Where Do You Rank? Todd Grasley Sep 25, 2016

The 2016 UF Mt. Dew Invitational was the largest in event history with over 100 teams. The races were divided into seeded (orange) and unseeded (blue), but we wanted to combine the results to see how the meet would play out if everyone ran together!  Unseeded champions Hannah McAuliffe of Lakewood (pictured above) and James Hasell of East Lake won their respective races but would have finished 21st and 24th in the seeded race. Check it out and see where you'd rank!

Saturday on the Mark Bostic Golf Course on the University of Florida, hot and humid conditions made the UF Mt. Dew Classic a test of wills and physiological fortitude. On the girls side, Melbourne Central Catholic's senior Amanda Beach as well as the Steinbrenner girls dominated the seeded race, while Joshua Collins of Belen Jesuit won the individual title and guided his Wolverines to the team championship. Ricky Quintana recaps all the action.

Melbourne Central Catholic senior Amanda Beach continued her fantastic season by jumping out front in the girls seeded race at the UF Mt. Dew Invitational and never coming close to being challenged as she ran away from the field. Her time of 18:28.80 was over 25 seconds better than runner-up Leigha Torino of North Marion, and Jen Lima of East Lake who both broke 19 minutes as well.

The UF Mt. Dew Invitational has been one of the premier meets in the state of Florida every single year so it's no wonder a ton of great performances have come from this event. Ashley Brasovan, one of the best high school distance runners in state history owns the fastest mark since 2006 of 17:10.77 from 2007. Only two other girls Alexa Cruz in 2014 and Kacy Smith in 2010 have broke 18 minutes. On the boys side Armando DelValle is ranked number one with his 15:18.69 in 2010, but who could forget the battle between Nick Diaz and Steven Cross (pictured above) in 2014 when they crossed the line in 15:21.12 and 15:21.37. We take a look at the top 500 times over the las decade.
