Godby's Wilson, Maclay's Kurgatt Take Home Golds At Tallahassee City Championships

Eleven schools in Tallahassee gathered at the Godby High School Track for the Tallahassee City Championships meet. Maclay senior Stefanie Kurgatt swept wins in the 800, 1600, and 3200, with times of 2:21, 5:13, and 12:27 respectively.  

 
Godby High School earned valuable points from great performances on the girls’ side. Caitlin Wilson dominated with first place finishes in the 100 meters (12.28) and 200 meters (25.07). She also helped her team as the anchor leg in the 4x100 relay with a 47.58 winning time. The sister duo of Jazmyn and Jerykah Evans placed first and second in the 100 Meter Hurdles while Lilliann Andrews took first in the 300 Meter Hurdles. 

 
Reggie Davis from Lincoln High School won the boys 200 Meter Dash with time 21.25 seconds, being one of the fastest times ever out the city of Tallahassee!
 
The Girls 4x400 Meter Relay was the last event of the night and also the best race to watch. Godby girls just barely edged out Rickards for the victory. It came down to a final 100 meter sprint finish between Godby and Rickards’ anchor legs. Godby managed to get first place beating Rickards by just .10 seconds.  

 
Suhki Khosla from Leon won the 1600 with a time of 4:27, beating Maclay’s Travis Covert by one second. Khosla also ran 9:40 to win the 3200, with his teammates Wil Luca and Will Henderson helping with second and third place finishes. 

 
 
Florida High girls edged out the Godby girls by 4 points to get the victory in overall team ranking, 144-140 points.

On the boys’ side, Leon and Rickards tied for first place in the boys’ overall team rankings with 121 points each. Florida High follows with a third place finish with a total of 100 points.
