Proposals
Coaches voted to not change the current substitution rule of District to Region and Region to state. Athletes can be substituted, but they will not be eligible for individual awards. If an athlete is injured, and misses a qualifying meet-this can be appealed and the Comissioner will look at each, on an individual basis.
Also being looked at-At this point teams cannot run more than one varsity team in a meet that of the same sex-meaining more than one varsity girls team or varsity boys team) such as an A team in one race and a B team in another. Also, not running in two different meets on the same day.
Open Letter from Rick Rothman, FACA CC Chairman 1998-2006
Coaches, Athletes, Parents, and Supporters of Florida Cross Country,
I have had the honor and privilege of serving as the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Cross Country Chairman for the past eight years. As of this summer's clinic, my term has expired. I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and would like to thank the numerous people that have helped make this a great term, probably too many to mention here, but, hopefully, you know who you are.
I hope, in some small way, I have helped to improve the sport of Cross Country in the State of Florida, and have made some difference to all who participate in our great sport. I will still be coaching at Spanish River, and will still be involved, but not in role I have had for the past eight years.
I know Gary Droze and Mike Boza will do a great job. Anyone who needs my assistance wlth anything, I am always available, and I look forward to seeing you on the Cross Country courses in the near future.
Thanks again,
Rick Rothman
