The 3A Regional 4 meet hosted some of the best of the best competitors in the state on Thursday at Archbishop McCarthy’s track. The day was filled with regional qualifiers clinching their spots to compete at the state meet next Friday. 



Hallandale senior Regine Williams has had a remarkable track season so far. Athlete of the Week this past week, Williams took home three individual Regional Championships titles on Thursday. Williams won the long jump in 17-9.5, 100m dash in 11.90, and 200m dash in 23.80. Williams will be a strong state title contender next Friday.



Teammate Lia King has had a year filled with outstanding performances. King was victorious in the 100m hurdles with a blazing time of 14.04 while Central junior Kimani Austin-Reese won the 300m hurdles in 43.23 setting a new season best. 

Homestead junior Destiny Johnson ran to two victorious running a personal best of 2:18.53 in the 800m and 5:16.08 in the 1600m qualifying for next Friday. 

The Miami Northwestern girls had two wins in the 4x800m relay and 4x400m relay. Adding more points for the Bulls wasjunior Lloydricia Cameron She took the shot put with a very impressive mark of 45-10. Cameron also won the discus with a 154-7.




The 100m dash was filled with speed with the top six place finishers all under 11 seconds, but Blanche Ely senior Reshard Robinson took the win in 10.84 while Miami Springs senior Ryan Bermudez placed second with a close and season best time of 10.88. 



Miami Northwestern senior and University of Miami commit Artie Burns had quite the impressive day showing he is ready for the state meet next Friday. Burns ran to two victorious new season best times. In the 110m hurdles, he placed first in 13.98 and 300m hurdles in 37.62.

In the 400m dash, Northwestern junior Jeffery Green won and set a new season best with a strong time of 48.19. On the girls side, the first five places went 54-55-56-57-58. With major competition, Dillard senior Shakima Wimbley took the win with a 54.30. Talk about a competitive and close race.

The Miami Central boys qualified for all three relays being victorious in the 4x800m, 4x400m, and 4x100m. 



In the boys 1600, the first five places finished under 4:30 with Belen senior and distance star Avery Lopez took the win in 4:22.96. Lopez also won the 3200m in 9:44.81 with senior teammate Andres Fernandez placing second in 9:50.90 setting a new personal best.

The boys field event performance of the day was Miami Central sophomore Aaron Hannah who won with a strong throw of 54-4 setting a new personal best.

Congratulations to Miami Northwestern for winning the girls title and Belen Jesuit for winning the boys title. Incredible performances by all. Best of luck at the State meet on Friday!
