Salute To Seniors: Nick Uruburu - Bartram Trail High School

What was your most memorable race?

There were tons of memorable races but the 4x400m relay at the 2012 state meet has to be my favorite moment.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

Ceolamar Ways. I think we were lucky to have someone local to push each other and make each other better runners.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

Winning back-to-back state championships in the 400m and 4x400, but more importantly, winning back-to-back team titles.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your running career in high school?

It's really hard to answer. With ending on such a successful note, it's hard to pick out something that could be changed when it was just all so good.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Not only learning how to run, but how to run races. "To be a racer and not a time chaser." - Coach Nowicki

What will you miss the most?

My teammates. We've built relationships that will last for a lifetime. We have accomplished tasks that will not be forgotten.

What advice you would give to younger athletes?

To dream big, work hard and that running with heart will take you the next level.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

I owe everything to my coaches Paul Nowicki and Joe Richardson. They are responsible for everything I have accomplished. They did a fantastic job of keeping us grounded and humble, but made sure we were always hungry on the track.

What are your college plans?

I am headed to University of Florida to run track. I am looking forward to having a chance to contribute to a National Championship contender every year. Go Gators!

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to say thank you to my teammates. Without them, nothing I have accomplished could have been done. Also my coaches. All the hard work and dedication they put in is highly appreciated. Finally to my family, they are my biggest support group and can count on them for anything.
