Lloydricia Cameron brought home a World Youth Trials Championship on day one. She is back at the shot put in day two. Lots of sprinters in action in the 100,200, and 400, as well. Day One Highlights
- Girls Discus: A week after placing second at New Balance Nationals Outdoor, Miami Northwestern's Lloydricia Cameron unleashes the discus 158-10 to get the win at World Youth Qualifier and earn a spot on Team USA at the World Youth Championships in Donetsk, Ukraine. Her throw was seven inches shy of her personal best and four feet three inches more than the runner-up finisher. Cameron will try to sweep the throws when she goes for the shot put title on day two.
- Girls 100m Prelims: Diamond Spaulding (pictured below) squeaked into the finals with the 8th fastest time coming in at 12.07. Lake Highland Prep's Deanna Hill placed ninth and just missed out one tenth back in a time of 12.08. Chelsea Francis was 12th in 12.16, Daryth Gayles was 17th in 12.53.
- Girls 100m Hurdles Prelims: Stefani Kerrison won her heat in 14.09 and had the second fastest time overall behind Dior Hall of Colorado.
- Girls 200 Prelims: Spaulding's success continued in the 200 meter prelims. She posted the fourth fastest time of 24.25 to advance to the finals. Deanna Hill (pictured below) who just missed out in the 100 secured the eighth and final spot with her 24.71. Chelsea Francis was ninth in 24.72, Gabby Gayles 11th in 24.75, Erin Ford 14th in 24.90, and Deja Parrish 17th in 25.54.
- Girls 400 Prelims: Florida had four entrants in this even Kendal Ellis won her heat in 55.35 to advance. Holy Trinity's Gabby Gayles finished second in her heat in 55.04 to make the finals. Erin Ford was 13th while Deja Parrish finished 15th overall.
- Boys 400m Prelims: Andrew James slips into the eighth and final qualifying spot with a time of 49.66.
- Boys 2000m Steeplechase: Westminster Academy's Brandon Bejarano finished 3rd in 6:24.09. It's an event not commonly run in Florida, but Bejarano nicknamed "Brickhouse", competed in this event two other times this season at the Disney Track & Field Showcase and UNF Spring Break Open.
