Daesha Rogers set two meet records at AAU Club Nationals on Sunday. The American Heritage rising freshman set the new high water mark for the 400 meters (55.82) and 800 meters (2:10.28) in the 14-year-old division. The race took place at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. Athletes from all over the country are taking part in this eight day event that concludes today (Sunday, July 14, 2013).
Earlier in the week, representing Metro-Dade Track Club, she was the top seed out of the prelims with times of 56.72 and 2:13.39, respectively. On Thursday, she secured her first title of the weekend in the 1500 meter run with a 4:35.40--a second and a half off the meet record that the Gators' Cory McGee set back in 2006.
Rogers of course is no stranger to AAU records. She is quite prolific throughout the meet results, given that she owns perhaps more records than anyone from the 8-year-old on up to 14-year-old divisions. And it doesn't look like she'll be letting up on her assult on those record books any time soon!
