4A Girls
The day started off at 8:00 with the Girls 4A Varsity race. As expected, Jenny Barringer broke this thing wide open. She would finish over a minute and ten second before the second place finisher, Lavera Morris. Barringer clocked a new season leading mark of 17:53.55. Morris was second in 19:05.31 with a sizeable lead over third place Sarah Hughes at 19:25.73.
In team scoring Oak Ridge lead the way with 73 points, followed by Winter Park at 97, and a battle between Boone and Winter Springs, both scoring 108--Boone pulling it out with the 6th girl.
4A Boys
Winter Park looked TOUGH! What a pack they had, all together for the first mile. After that point Coleman Hoover turned up the heat a little bit and got some space. He finished in first at 15:51.79 with teammate Caleb Vogt in second 16:01.69. Lyman's Bryan Christian was third with 16:20.13.
Did not see the team scores of this one, but it was clearly Winter Park.
1A, 2A, 3A Girls
Freshman Kaitlin Shriver of Satellite was extremely impressive, winning easily and making it look like just an easy run. Her time was 18:45.55. Laura Woznicki was the next runner with a time of 19:47.85. It was all Holy Trinity after that. Chelsea Joiner once again took the leading role on the young Tigers' squad (20:01.29). She was followed closely by her friends Jade Miller (20:04.77) and Kayla Hale (20:05.49).
Holy Trinity had a commanding lead with a team score of 27. Flagler Palm Coast was next with 155.
1A, 2A, 3A Boys
There was a scoring mixup, and Justin Harbor was left off of the first round of results... the only ones that I saw. So not sure about the team scoring in this one. But I am sure about one thing....
Justin Harbor has just come into his own. He showed signs the last couple weeks that he could be FPC's latest stud, but today he proved it. The transfer from DeLand has been incredible and today won this race with a time of 16:04.36. It was a battle up front and through 2 miles Lief Thomason of Satellite had the lead. With a half mile to go Harbor had had enough and just powered through the finish, looking excited, fit, and happy. Lief kept it close finishing just back in 16:08.47. The top five were rounded out by Steve Curley of Trinity Prep (also taking huge strides forward) 16:18.95, Andrew Chuplis of Lake Highland in 16:18.95 and Rich Pereira of Bishop Moore in 16:27.07.
