TALLAHASSEE -- The anticipated boys team battle between Chiles and Bishop Kenny didn\'t come to fruition Friday afternoon
at the FSU Invitational at Miccosukee Greenway Park outside of Florida\'s capital. BK decided not to run its A team after
an impressive team win a week earlier at Katie Caples.
Without the Crusaders, Mobile Challenge of Champions titlist last weekend Chiles rolled to the team championship on the back
of five scorers in the top eight, scoring just 25 points.
While the team title wasn\'t in question, the individual race proved to make up for it. Episcopal (team runner-up) No. 1
runner Tim McLeod took the lead from the gain, putting several seconds on the pack up the first hill and into the woods
just before the mile mark. But coming out of the woods after two miles, Chiles\' Alex Miletich had drawn even with McLeod,
eventually overtaking the Katie Caples winner up the hill with about 1000 meters left. Miletich finished in 15:58 for the
five kilometer race. McLeod crossed the finish line in 16:02
The high school girls\' race was not without its drama either as Anna Greskovich (Pensacola Catholic), Robyn DeBenedet (Episcopal),
Mallory Wellman (Bishop Kenny) and Kelly Marshall (Bishop Kenny) made it a four women race nearing the mile-marker and woods entrance.
But Friday\'s race ended up being Greskovich\'s as she came out of the woods with a four second lead over Wellman, closely followed by
DeBenedet.
The race ended in that order with the Catholic junior winning in 19:06, followed by Wellman\'s 19:09 and DeBenedet 10 seconds later (19:19).
However, the team title wasn\'t decided up front but instead by the pack running of Oak Hall, whose top four placed between ninth
and 16th, a 81-110 winner of Bishop Kenny.
